Frame generation for all RTX cards

Featured Replies

How is your VRAM usage and TLOD? For me playing a YT video on the second monitor (4K) is not possible with the MSFS running on the primary, using the frame gen, Auto FPS and DLSS Ultra Quality.

With TAA, no issue.

  • Really? It's night and day difference. I'm testing the mod right now, on my "old" 3090, and I get a steady 60 fps, with PMDG 737-800, parked at FSDT KORD, at 5120x1440 32:9, I barely hit 40 befor

  • I'm testing this right now and my mind is blown.  I now understand why all the hype about FG.  3080ti, 4K, mostly high/ultra settings and have been pegged at 60FPS on first test flight in the Fenix.

  • I was one of the people who basically ordered an RTX 4000 series card only because of Frame Generation. And FG is really impressive.  Now I'm glad everyone gets to participate in that experience.

Yep VRAM usage is a big issue with FRG.  I only have 10 GB on my RTX3080 and clearly need more.  An RTX4080 with 16 GB would seem to fit the bill with it's inbuilt FRG but at over £1,000 I'm going to have to wait until the prices drop a bit.

It may not be such an issue for those running at 1080, but for me at 1440, I'm using it all at busy airports and I hate to imagine how bad things might get for those running at 4k and/or with multi monitors.

Tried this, just got a black hung screen when MSFS started 😞

Hi everyone,

I recently updated my graphics card to a 4080 super. So, I no longer need the frame GEN mod. I disabled the registry tweaks and removed the two files from my fight simulator content directory. I followed the proper uninstall, but I’m getting an error message now about the mod not loading. Any ideas? Thanks for your help

ok got it to work, not bad tech at all.  Has anyone found a way to get round the flashing MSFS panels?

Impossible for now, we need MSFS native FSR3 frame generation for that.

Hello. I am going out of my mind! My Framerate Genertion option keeps dissapearing in my settings option. This happens if I try to use SFS2020_AutoFSP why? I then have to restore my RestoreNvidiaSignatureChecks back to their original state, reboot and then muck about, then reinstall the nvngx.dll and the dlssg_to_fsr3_amd_is_better.dll. Why is this happening? I have a RTX2060

Any help appreciated

Paul

BTW, when using this and wanting to limit FPS to 60, that means i need to limit my FPS to 120 in NVCP ?

Mine is set at 60 in the nvcp with vsync on 100% of refresh rate and my sim runs at 60 fps with fgr.

Using auto fps with a min tlod at 50 and max at 300 keeps it between 50 and 60 most of the time.

For some reason when limiting my FPS my experience is not smooth

Wanted to share with you my own experience after severals tries with this mod on my settings...

R5 5700x with 3070 RTX on 60 Hz monitor.

So, installing the mod (also installing dlss 3.7) in MFS directory. Installing RTSS (Riva tuner Stat Server). Set on it Frame limit 60 on Flightsim.exe or global (witch gives me 30 fps on graphic engine on MSFS but 60 fps on rendering). Set also 60 on Scanline sync (needed for me to keep constant Frame Gen)

Works like a charm for me. No need to buy a 4xxx graphic card. Assuming you'll adapt settings depending of your monitor settings in Hz.

Bye

Edit: if you want less artefacts in external view in MSFS with this mod, disable "Lens correction" in graphic option.

Can anyone show me their in-sim FPS counter when using the FG mod on a 60Hz monitor capped at 60FPS+vSync On in NVCP? Curious to see how the mainthread is looking for others as well as all the other numbers the dev counter shows (yet to achieve an all-over green dev panel with my 2080Ti). I know the FPS is irrelevant and will show 30 within sim, but external it shows 60 of course for me.

@Cpt_Piett My setup is quoted, and end result is a steady 30FPS shown in-game and 60FPS externally, but I am wondering if my mainthread numbers are within a reasonable value. Steady showing 25-26ms and as I understand this is well within what can be accepted with a setup like mine above? All other numbers are green if I remember correctly.

A frame time of 25ms is 40fps, 30fps equals 33ms. So 25-26ms seems fine. I don’t really pay much attention to the actual frame time values, but the difference between frame times e.g. frame time variance. This corresponds extremely well with visually perceived stutters.

When I suspect the mainthread is getting overwhelmed, I bring up the RTSS performance overlay, and check the frame time graph. If it’s flat or almost flat, no worries. The more spikes, the more stutters. The reason is almost always that there’s too much load on the mainthread.

In my case the most likely culprit is running too much AI traffic. The other thing that significantly affects the mainthread is TLOD. But I’ve got that under control using AutoFPS. Hence, when I see spikes on the frame time graph, I reduce traffic.

Occasionally, something else is going on, e.g. nearby photogrammetry - or perhaps some background app eating CPU cycles.

I hope this was helpful.

This mod is working great in my system, but I have a strange side effect. Ground shadows cast by my aircraft are very jittery, whereas the aircraft itself moves smoothly. Anybody having the same issue who found a solution for it?
