MSFS Auto FPS App

I just tested this and it is working correctly.

I think I know the problem. It looks like you have changed the <add key="DecCloudQNonExpert" value="false" /> line in the MSFS2024_AutoFPS.config file in the app's bin subdirectory, which is a template config file not the real one. You need to make the change in the MSFS2024_AutoFPS.config file in the app's root directory ie. one directory up.

Try that and let me know if that fixes it. Either way, I have updated the readme to make it clearer which MSFS2024_AutoFPS.config file should be modified as I can see how it could be confusing.

Got it, thanks!

One other question: the app used to automatically start for me minimized to my system tray but now it no longer does. Any way to change that?

Not any more sorry. It was just too confusing for new users and sending the icon to the system tray caused the app to not exit properly for some users, so changing it to how it is now kills two birds with one stone.

The best I can offer is that the app will remember if it was minimised the last time you ran the app and will start the next time minimised. You can also use third party apps like https://www.4t-niagara.com/tray.html to send it to the system tray like it used to.

I have a new test version with a beefed up compatibility test and other robustness improvements that I'd appreciate a few of you test driving to see if I got it right. It has worked on my Steam  and @Cpt_Piett's MS Store MSFS 2024 install, so hopefully it will be good to go.

You can install this on top of 0.4.4.1 without removing it first. Make sure you read the important note re start up sequencing.

If all goes well, you shouldn't notice anything different other than my name in the app window title, not for vanity but so there is less confusion about what AutoFPS version a user is running.

If you have any issues message me your log file and just go back to 0.4.4.1. Actually, message me your log file once even if it does go well as I want to see what the full memory test returns on successful runs too.

Anyway here it is: https://github.com/ResetXPDR/MSFS_AutoFPS/releases/tag/v0.4.4.2-test

Recently this app does not fit in its frame on my system.  I have made no changes that I can recall to my graphics settings.  Any suggestions on what I  could try?

Your fonts in the app are very large. Do you have some sort of text scaling set in Windows? Check Windows settings System->Display->Customised Scaling->Text size If it is set to anything other than far left, which is default, it causes scaling issues with this app.

Fixed. Thank you.  All I can recall is a round of Windows updates.  I had not changed any settings on my own.

Have you been able to fix your software so that it detects the correct cloud setting?

Can we not minimize to system tray anymore?

Can't seem to find how to do this with latest version. Was a great feature of this app.

Not at the moment as this was changed in a recent update. I use this freeware addon to minimize it to systray

If you mean the issue some users were reporting after the 0.4.4.1 update where the config file was being corrupted by the MSFS 1.2.8.0 update, one side effect of which was incorrect cloud settings, then performing a clean install of 0.4.4.1 (ie remove using the installer, then reinstall) fixed it for everyone that has tried it so far

I am considering finding a way to put it back in for those that want it, but first I have to work out how to deconflict the mutually exclusive use of the window close button. I'll take a look at it after I've dealt with getting the robustness improvements squared away.

Just made a short VFR flight without problem (MSFS Microsoft Store and 0.4.4.2-test2).

Good to hear. Can you please message me your log file so I can take a quick look at the memory scan test result. It's located in %appdata%\MSFS_AutoFPS\log
