I just watched your "short" (1hr25! 😂)  video and yes your mic was working fine. It was interesting to see how you use the addons you have, especially of course AutoFPS with which I have a vested interest.

Although you were distracted with your dodgy flight plan when you crossed Alt TLOD Top of 5000 ft, I did observe the new TLOD Base + seek process engaged and completed correctly and then again when descending back through that altitude. I didn't notice any stutters while it was doing its business, so all is looking good with the test build so far from what I can see.

I am glad it seems to be working better for you now however, as advised over on github, I am altering the deal and changing things a little (for the better I promise!) in the next test build. Pray I don't alter it any further! 😆

Thanks for the mic feedback! As I mentioned over at GitHub, your app is working extremely well now.

Question, I set my clouds at either high or Ultra, and as soon as I start Auto FPS, they are set to medium. I do not have the box checked to lower clouds. What could be the cause?

The log file will reveal why but the most likely cause is that they were set to medium the last time the app and MSFS were run and MSFS did not exit cleanly, so the app detected this on next startup and restored them to what they previously were.

The best way to resolve this is to leave MSFS running, exit the app, go to the MSFS main menu then change the cloud setting to what you want then restart the app and your cloud setting should stick. If it doesn't let me know and message me your related log files, particularly the one where this issue first occurred if you still have it.

An update on the 0.4.4.7 test program, which aims to improve TLOD Base + across all modes:

  • We are up to test build 9, with FPS Cap mode working very nicely with the TLOD Base + improvements made to date.
  • Non-expert and Auto TLOD modes are still under redevelopment, but are mostly complete.
  • Since incorporating auto update and moving testing discussion over to github here, there is about a 3 fold increase in the number of downloads of test versions.
  • There are 8 very active participants in discussion of the changes, which is very much appreciated and is probably enough of a sample size.
  • Nonethess, if there is an issue other users' have with these new changes then they need to advise soon before the update is formally released, probably a week away.
  • If you are at all curious as to what the changes will eventually be, the top post in the github discussion here reveals all in summary form and is regularly updated.

I'll go back into my testing hole now 😁

Hey, I've tried to update the app but no matter if I do an update/clean instal, AutoFPS has suddenly just stopped working. I have MS2024 in green, Sim Connect RED and Session RED.

Any help at all please? I love this addon lol

Hi, I'm configuring my system again with MSFS2024. I used AutoFPS before in MSFS202 but the settings have changed since, both in the app and on my side. So what are the recommended settings now for Quest3 + Virtual Display + ASW "always on" @80Hz?

I'm not sure what to use with motion projection to maintain solid 40fps but still have AutoFPS reduce LOD when needed, and clouds too. I'd appreciate some advise.

Normally I don't give out settings recommendations as users' systems, settings and expectations vary too much. Plus I don't really have time with all the coding I have been doing lately.

Since your Q3 VR settings are exactly what I use, I will break my rule this time and show you what settings I use for VFR in MSFS 2024 with the high preset for graphics that gives me 40 FPS locked most of the time for the hardware in my signature. I don't do IFR in 2024 yet, not until it gets as good as 2020 is now, so I have no suggestions for that type of flying.

Anyway, FWIW:

So its only fair that you share your 2020 settings for IFR...  :)

Thank you, much appreciated! And thank you for a great app. I don't know what expectations people have - you're not a magician, you can't do miracles. However, this app immensely improved my experience in MSFS2020 because it was the final push I needed for smooth performance. It will do the same job in MSFS2024, I'm already seeing it working. Will it be enough? It seems to be enough for early career mode, but we'll see if the performance will hold in an acceptable range in an airliner at a busy custom airport. The only stutters I see are occasional freezes of the sim that happen with or without your app - so they aren't performance related but maybe scenery loading or network glitches. But whatever happens - your app helps and does exactly what is expected of it, and what MSFS should have been doing natively but doesn't.
