Currently adaptive frame gen is recognized as LSFG X1 and so I have set FPS Cap to 30 where previously that would have been 60 using LSFG X2.  Everything seems to be functioning just fine when I have AFG set to 60 in LS.  This will also be the same for someone who wants to set FPS Cap to 60 and then set AFG to 144 in LS for example.

So what seems to be working is setting the FPS Cap to the "base" framerate, in my case 30.    What might get interesting is using AFG with an uncapped sim FPS.

I've just been reading up on this new adaptive frame gen and I may not be able to support it directly in this app due to the way it changes the frame gen multiplier on the fly and there seems to be no actual way to detect what it is currently set to. Also, having two apps targeting a, possibly different, specified FPS at the same time is a recipe for contention.

Nonetheless, as you have discovered, using the base frame rate may work for now. I shall ponder this further ...

I've got it detecting adaptive FG in my latest test build but, as previously advised, will have to use the base FPS because the actual current multiplier in use is dynamic and I have not yet found a way for it to be detected on the fly. This should at least make it clearer to the user what is happening.

It will look something like this:

image.png?ex=67ca4d6a&is=67c8fbea&hm=99fc9ca78ee23e77015d12b94de8d04ea7f74f5ea0ef78ee203450edb53b912a&

I just have to make sure I haven't broken anything with the release version of Lossless Scaling in making this change, then I will release the new test version for you to try out if you wish over here, probably very soon.

Edit: It all still worked with the Lossless Scaling release version. RC2 is now up with this change.

The more I think about it, using base FPS for the target FPS is the only way for this app to work properly with LSFG adaptive FG as you'd have a moving target it you set it based on the dynamic multiplier, even if the app could detect it, so I'll leave it as is in RC2 for now.

MSFS_AutoFPS version 0.4.4.7 has just been formally released. If you have auto updates enabled on 0.4.4.6 it should, following your confirmation, automatically update when you next run the app. If not, it is available for download here.

My heartfelt thanks go out to all the testers who participated and provided feedback during the test phase over here. I am particularly pleased with how much better TLOD Base + is to use now, in a large part thanks to them.

Summary of Changes:

  • Fully compatible with MSFS 2024 SU1 (1.3.23.0).
  • Improved TLOD Base + functionality in FPS Cap, Auto TLOD and Non-Expert modes:
    • More performance headroom on the ground.
    • Optional exclusion on the ground and at low altitude.
    • Periodic refresh in the air with changing performance conditions.
  • Added support for Adaptive Frame Generation with the Lossless Scaling app.
  • General improvements, optimisations and minor bug fixes.

Setting are very system and user expectation specific, so you are generally better off trying the program defaults then take it from there with expert settings if you want. From the readme FAQ:

I am new to this app/MSFS, or I don't care for all this technical jargon. What is the simplest way to use this app to make my MSFS experience better?

  • Leave your relevant MSFS settings (TLOD, OLOD and Cloud Quality) set as you normally would without this app,
  • Start the app before you load your flight,
  • Leave Use Expert Settings unchecked,
  • Pick what type of flight you are doing via the radio buttons ie. either VFR (GA aircraft) or IFR (airliners),
  • If using an FPS cap, enter that as your target FPS otherwise enter a target FPS your system can usually easily achieve or click on auto target FPS for the app to pick it for you,
  • Click back on MSFS and wait until any FPS settle or TLOD seek events have finished (60 seconds max), then
  • Go fly!

Hi Reset, love the app. Unfortunately on your latest update it doesn't seem to connect to the sim. MSFS2024 is green but the other two items are red. Any ideas? Worth uninstalling and reinstalling it?

Did you try doing what the readme suggests to do?

If after installing and running the app your simconnect always stays red, your TLOD and OLOD values show as zero or you see "Critical Exception occurred: MSFS_AutoFPS - Unable to load DLL 'GpuzShMem.x64.dll' or one of its dependencies" in the log file:

  • Try downloading and installing/repairing a Microsoft official version of “Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 - 2022 Redistributable”, which may be missing from your Windows installation. Try installing this and this.
  • Try downloading and installing/repairing the NET desktop runtime from here and here.
  • If still not resolved and the error code in your AutoFPS log file is Exception 31, you most likely have a corrupt MSFS installation so you can choose to either not run this app or to reinstall MSFS completely.
  • If reinstalling MSFS 2024, you need to do a clean install, as outlined for your MSFS version here, which only takes around 15 minutes to complete and all your settings, controller assignments, career progression and your pilot profile are retained.

If that doesn't work, message me your log file and tell me what version was working for you before you updated and we'll take it from there.

It doesn't seem to be the issue mentioned above. I've attached my log file

I will look into it in the morning and will respond via personal message.

In the interim, try reinstalling the app with the clean install option checked as it looks like something has been corrupted.

  • Leave your relevant MSFS settings (TLOD, OLOD and Cloud Quality) set as you normally would without this app,
  • Start the app before you load your flight,
  • Leave Use Expert Settings unchecked,
  • Pick what type of flight you are doing via the radio buttons ie. either VFR (GA aircraft) or IFR (airliners),
  • If using an FPS cap, enter that as your target FPS otherwise enter a target FPS your system can usually easily achieve or click on auto target FPS for the app to pick it for you,
  • Click back on MSFS and wait until any FPS settle or TLOD seek events have finished (60 seconds max), then
  • Go fly!

Thank you. I will give this a try.

I am using FPS Cap and have it set too 80 but the program shows my FPS above 100. Shouldn't it hold my FPS Cap?

Per this instruction line:

  • If using an FPS cap, enter that as your target FPS otherwise enter a target FPS your system can usually easily achieve or click on auto target FPS for the app to pick it for you,

You need to have set the system FPS cap elsewhere eg. nVidia control panel or RTSS. What you are then setting in the app is a target FPS to match that. You'll know you've been successful  if the app FPS matches the FPS cap and your target FPS and the app shows FPSCap on the status line.

Hello. Today the AutoFPS 0.4.4.7 does not work in MSFS 2024. Does this mean an alteration has been made by Asobo in the background?
