Though, I'm no longer assuming people have the budget for multiple component upgrades. Nor am I presuming any longer that everyone posting here lives in a country where: a) $230 is cheap, or b) tech is priced similarly to the USA. And lest we not forget, multithreading gets optimized soon--so hardly a need for any more "future proofing". As MSFS2024 gets perhaps more cloud based perhaps best put the $300 into higher bandwidth internet if you need it. Right now w/ my nearly 4y/o 9900K at 4.9gzHz what a 7800X3D should do for me is this: Allow me to add more aircraft on the ground and in the air. Do I really want this? Not really. I see what I feel is just right air traffic and parked aircraft numbers about 12, and those are almost always in close prox to my gate. Do I want to jam up the skies so I have to wait to take off and go around because of traffic? Hardly! Will bump my base rate of absolute stutter-free perfection at a Render Scale of 160 in any plane anywhere from 37, to maybe 45 or so? That would nice for sure but absolute perfection in image quality, panning quality, animation smoothness, ultra high resolution scaling, stutter-free is really what matters by way far, the most. A remote chance the graphic artifacts that happen for me when I enable FG on this RTX4090 may go away or improve. Some *should* for sure, but one of the worst ones won't, and that is of course the judder that happens whenever I move mouse focus from my 2nd display to the main MSFS display. Sometimes it's modest, often it's quite substantial, so not a good thing. But also, one can train themselves to avoid looking at the moment of truth, which I did for a while until the other artifacts associated w/ FG were too undesirable and certainly immersion breaking when one is use to perfection. Bump up TLOD, though I just learned today turning PG off hugely reduces the load in the main thread, so will test that shortly. TBH, I thought I really needed a new CPU before upgrading the GPU. I was wrong, thankfully! The 4090 has eliminated stutters associated w/ maxing out VRAM, has let me bump my base rate from 33 to 37 which at these lower rates is noticed and is useful and especially sweet: render scale at 160, and it could go 200 easily. So 4090 has breathed meaningful new life into the old CPU. Add to this improvements in multithreading? May mainly buy a new CPU because this one's getting old in terms of volts and hours of operation, so the end will come. I'll retire it into my music workstation. You will be able to load more AI and set a higher T-LOD value with a 7800X3D, that's it, your 4090 will take care of the rest ,but the question is if you need to upgrade your CPU now that Auto FPS has become a reality, it seems to work fine from what I understand. When 2024 is released, and it utilizes threads far better, the tide could change to something like the 7950x3d. More future proof imo. ? I always thought MSFS tends to be CPU limited. At least on my system its the CPU limitation that brings MSFS to the limits. - Harry 9800x3D (Strix x870e-E) - 64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30) - RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR - Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2) - MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).

I went from an I9 10900K to the AMD 7800X3D and gain about 20fps, at big third party airports, it is the amount of AI, aircrafts with lots of screens and complex panels as well as the T-Lod setting you will notice the difference, everything else is controlled by your GPU.
