Been looking at some reviews/YT vidoes... and wondering if this may be better than the Pimax... costs 2K here in NZ as opposed to 3K for thew Pimax...

Anyone have any experience with ti as yet?

T'would seem so eh!

I just think the majority of people aren't using the Bigscreen Beyond. I would love a slightly bigger headset that had inside out tracking and didn't need the custom facial interface.

Yes agree...not too keen on the 'base stations' lark... i love my G2 for that...

Official forums are better for VR talk, bigger concentration of enthusiasts there.

Agree, but VR in MFS is a separate story with its own nuances 🙂

Agreed I personally can't stand the overzealous moderation there nor the terrible flagging system.

Both discouraged most of the long time knowledgably users from posting anymore.

The official forums have lost a ton of great helpful friendly users since MSFS launch.

Based on the specs, I don't see the need to spend money to change from my current Reverb G2 to the Bigscreen Beyond. The FOV, which is really important for giving you a sense of motion when flying, is actually *narrower* than the G2.

I wouldn't take less than 100 degrees in a headset I bought today.

 

The G2 may not work with the next Windows11 update. Win 11 will no longer have WMR in windows, nor can it be installed in that version of Win 11 (at least that's what most everyone is saying).

indeed... at that time i guess ill need to fork out for the next version up...maybe the Pimax?

You need to try the Pimax first.  I was not impressed as my eyes could not get close enough to get a decent field of view.  I am happy with the Quest 3.  The blacks aren't perfect, but the edge-to-edge clarity cannot be beaten.

Bigscreen Beyond: exceedingly light weight (100 g), but glare with so so lenses that require an absolutely perfect fit and no native tracking devices.

Crystal Light:  lower cost (but still $$$), excellent visuals but 2 lbs (900 g) on your face and head.

Reverb G2: my baseline in regards to the above, but facing immanent EOL due to MS abandonment (explicative deleted).

Thus summarizing my current VR dilemma (BTW, Quest 3...no way, don't even bother!)

The Quest 3 has color pass through. You can see your controllers, keyboard, mouse by tapping the headset (which turns on/off pass through. In other words Quest 3 has a built in lighthouse.

Quest 3 has ocular eyewidth down to 54mm. So kids can see true 3D instead of partial 3D.  3D suddenly snaps into full depth as you are moving the lens adjuster and it now reaches the precise width that it is centered perfectly on your pupils.
