If you care about your ears and hearing, just get an ANR headset when flying GA. Should be #2 on priority list for students after medical even.

Do you think the headphone simulation in msfs compares well to this experience?

Just wanted to remind everyone that the reason for this thread being created in the first place makes absolutely no sense.

Believe it or not if it were not for XBOX and MS Asobo games there would not be a MSFS (while people call it MSFS2020). I would be back to playing on FSX or stepping up to P3D or XPlane with a P.C. upgrade in 2019.

This sim was but built to work on a Console "to gain mass players" Period.

Not originally. If that were the case it would have launched on console at the same time as PC

Yes they brought over some P3D and XPlane users on P.C. most people now play MS on a Console (according to MS). Remember SU5.

I’ve tried playing msfs on Xbox, the menus are a pain to navigate on controller. They were clearly not designed for one in mind

Asobo had the first XBOX to work on MSFS for compatibility and MSFS was rushed out bugs and all for the PC for you to carry on testing. PS brought FSX back from the dead to include it in Game Pass as well as Train Sim.

Makes me wonder what the menus in 2024 will be like

That's not what the OP had in mind. He was talking about the sim being dumbed down and more arcade in order to appeal to more people when in reality, the initial hook of the sim is its impressive visuals. What Phil Spencer talks about in the article has very little to do with MSFS.

When did MS say this and what is the significance of SU5 aside from that being the one that coincided with the xbox launch?

FWIW, regarding what Phil Spencer may have said or not said specifically and quoting @CO2Neutral above, I oftentimes personally find reading between the lines helpful.

Sometimes reading the body language and reading what was NOT said may even be more significant that what was said.

Respectfully, I should probably also mention that some people (not everyone) believe that ...
