Tromsø is a very beatiful city, with the nearby Lyngen Alps (Lyngen Alps), midnight sun, aurora borealis - and the picturesque Arctic Cathedral (Ishavskatedralen). I've been there a few times - wouldn't mind living there for a year, despite the dark, snowy, cold winters 🙂 Yes, just two more stops to go: Honningsvåg (following your recommendation to visit the Nordkapp), and then I want to challenge myself to go to Svalbard. It's going to be tight if I want to have enough reserves to get back to the mainland if necessary, but I'll see if I can pull it off. I've never been to Tromsø in real life, but it's definitely on my list -- though I definitely want to go in summer... 😉 18 hours ago, Cpt_Piett said: I finally got around to do a short flight in the piston myself - early morning (local time 03:50) from ENSD Sandane to ENAL Ålesund. Thanks for the pictures -- I love that early morning atmosphere! Watched the video too -- wow, some stunning views in there! 15 hours ago, sloppysmusic said: Also those 2 are the ULTIMATE in info displays as you can customize EIGHT user fields! I use 750 for route info as it actually HAS the route and the 650 for situational like ground speed/radar altitude/outside temp (so you can set the speed display accurately!) and track. I have them configured similarly -- love the wealth of information I can get with those. Amazing avionics, and they make flying RNP approaches a breeze. 15 hours ago, sloppysmusic said: After they fixed the mixture I think the Grand Duke is my fave now. It has speed and power enough for me. The Turbine technically has extra but after you've spent every other minute nursing it to stay within limits without damaging engine it's not that much quicker than the Grand. Same here. When I got the Dukes, I thought I'd fly the turbine version more, but I haven't really found a reason to -- it guzzles gas, and the piston seems to appeal to me more, at least for the time being. I definitely plan to do some tours in the turbine version too, though -- I have a soft spot for turboprops, and there aren't many for MSFS yet that are well modeled and have good sounds (sooooo important -- have to have that beta range growl!).

Its a freeware Troutdale Airport to Boise with Vertical Sim's payware. Oh, Troutdale -- that brings back memories. Loved flying there in FS9 -- what was the name of that scenery addon that enhanced the whole area with detail that was unprecedented for the time?

There was a Cascade Locks airstrip mission in FSX that couldn't be accessed outside the mission in free flight. https://www.fs2000.org/2014/04/11/fsx-scenery-columbia-river-gorge/ the domain name shows its age lol! I'm preparing for my next 737 Himalayas flight. VIBR-VNST 3664 feet to 2100ft runways 3571 elevation to 9751 no charts no waypoints just source and destination waypoints in the FMC go on I challenge you to do it in the Fenix! :D I'd accept a duke though! 266 miles of stunning terrain with multiple famous peaks on the way. Real time/weather only, whatever the conditions I have to do it. I guess I SHOULD look for an alternate....but that's being defeatist lol! Russell Gough SE London

I had multiple issues with the 737 and sim . Some bugs and some realistic. I overshot the runway as reversers didn't work. Then I realised due to altitude they'd have considerable less power.... I am going to try again it's now my favorite challenge airport for mastering any aircraft. Last night I was so shocked by the location I just plonked it down on threshold 15 kts faster than ideal as 2000ft is easy to stop in at around 125kts in low fuel half empty 737-600. At sea level lol! Next time no passengers, well ONE to make it realistic for SlopAir and reserve fuel. You have been WARNED. 😳😎 http://www.gcmap.com/airport/IMK Russell Gough SE London

Maybe it’s not silly, but based on your experience, it’s too tempting. I’ll take the Fenix as I’ve completely forgotten how to fly the 737. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
June 30, 20241 yr Double post. Avsim was working quite well for a while after the server event, but it’s been really bad since yesterday. Edited June 30, 20241 yr by Cpt_Piett 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

Mine is amazing, especially crazy stuff I did after like a cliff dive take-off, a 90 degree nose up stall in mountains (plus recovery) then turning both engines off and doing an APU restart at low altitude :D. :D Couple of non-spoiler screenshots of my manual approach! Haha and I thought I was doing silly things - you're on a different level 😄 Craziest thing I've done in the Fenix was to land it on the 970m runway at ENSD Sandane... I might have done crazier things, but I still have a way to go until I'm at your level! 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
June 30, 20241 yr I have one question. When the fuel in one of the tanks runs out faster, how to restore the balance of fuel in both tanks? I tried setting the fuel levers to different positions, but it didn't help.
