May 18, 20242 yr Commercial Member Hello all! Coming over from Intel to AMD, are there any setting in the BIOS I should turn ON or OFF that would help with performance? May 18, 20242 yr All I did was enable EXPO/XMP. The 7800X3D's performance at stock BIOS settings seems to be more than adequate.
May 18, 20242 yr In my 5600 which is already old but performs GREAT I disabled the equivalent of hyperthreading, called SMT in AMD parlance..., in the BIOS. Modern AMD CPU s are very good!!! May 18, 20242 yr don't forget curve optimizer got mine set to negative 25 at the moment . free temp reduction , free increase in frequency , but your mileage may vary ROG Crossair Hero X670e , 9900X, TUF 4090 , X4 NVME's. As others mention you can use Curve Optimizer and gain a little more top end frequency and a little lower temp, and emphasis should be on 'little'. Also, for sure disable AMD's version of HT, called SMT. This amps up heat greatly and offers no better performance in my experience. May 19, 20242 yr 5800X3D here. And 4070 plain. The combined cost for both was under $900. I used Curve Optimizer and ran long test on testing software. Improved with lower heat. But every few days a BSOD (maybe one every 100 hours). So I set it back to default normal and no more BSOD's for a year. X3Ds are the best gaming cpus. Series 4000 are the best gpus. I have to turn graphic settings way way down when I don't run native FG which is what series 4000 can do. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
May 20, 20242 yr AMD CPU boost (for 150-200Mhz dynamic overclock). AMD SAM smart access memory on. And you are good to go 🙂
