Aircraft Discovery Series 4 | Welcome to the A320neo (v2)

Featured Replies

Hmm... Mixed feelings here, since the positive announcements from the Youtubers raised the expectation bar very high. I just have done my very first flight from Toulouse LFBO to Menorca LEMH.

First the good things:
+ there is an "Orbit" livery   🙂
+ Hand-flies very well
+ Sounds are very atmospheric
+ Visuals and Animations  - and the texturing is perfect
++ it is for free, so MANY thanks to ASOBO for providing this beauty to us as a gift

The Cons:
- Terr On ND not functional (which is a real bugger if you fly into a cloudy or misty Innsbruck for example
- There is a small black dot flashing right in front of me in VR when on the ground
- The FIX page does not do anything (Menorca has a DME ARC approach, so I wanted to draw the 13 NM DME ARC on the ND, but that does not work), nor did the ND show the curved STAR
- ATC changed the Approach during descent, after altering the FMC, Managed Mode was only available after passing the Interception Points (I did not fly the real thing yet, but in the CEO version, a DIR TO normally activates the lateral and vertical Managed Modes unless the FIX is >90° away from you). So I do not know if this is a desired behaviour or a bug on the NEO version - but I had to navigate in HDG and VS mode for a few moments.
- After disengaging A/THR and AP1 on final, the Master Warning Sound was impossible to mute (ding ding ding until the gate) - did I miss something?
- Flare was very, very long: With Flaps Full and 15 knots crosswind it took almost 2000 ft of the runway to get from 10 ft height to Touch Down - I do not expect the ground effect to be that strong
- FLX TMP? Too slow
- No Airport Filter on ND, every small airfield is being displayed

My wishes:
+ Navigraph Charts integration into the EFB (I know this won't happen since this is an ASOBO-published product and they have their own Navdata)
+ can we get bug splatter on the windscreen, please?
+ an animated FS2Crew copilot (I normally fly the Fenix with FS2Crew and I almost forgot to raise the gear after T/O since the copilot normally does that for me)

I guess that we will have a sophisticated A321 NEO from inibuilds, soon. Just like we got an A300 after the A310 was released through Asobo in the past.  🙂

forgot FLX TMP and AP filter, FIX page is working

Best regards,

Your doubts are misplaced. They’ll be adding new engine variant to the A320 sometime in the future according to the last Dev live stream. But imagine with all the focus on 2024, that won’t be until after launch.

There were also bug fixes for the A310 included with SU15.

So your proof of my doubts being misplaced is something that has not happened yet? Plus some very low-key fixes for the A310 which they mostly ignored apart from that since its launch (and which would rather be a proof of what I said) - I'd not call that an "improvment".
In other words: I base my judgement on previous experience and on logic in regards to the current work schedule of iniBuilds.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

I had an issue on a flight today which could just be a "me" problem. I was setup for a CAT-3 ILS approach and disabled the autopilot at about 500ft. The Autopilot disconnect alarm wouldn't shut off the whole time I was taxiing to the ramp. I think I disabled the AP just by deselecting AP1/AP2 on the FCU. Did I do something wrong, or is that a bug?

Edit: I was writing this as @Holger0815 above noted the same thing. I guess it's a bug?

Yes you need to push the red button on the sidestick to disengage the AP (or you the appropriate key in MSFS).

TERR INOP on a modern airliner....but a fully detailed cabin. priorities are a bit backwards mates

You're cherry picking an optional art asset while ignoring the many other things the plane gets right that you don't typically find in a default aircraft.....

Not really, they've done several patches for the A310 since launch. The reason there was so much time between the last few was because of Asobo not pushing them, that was not on Ini.

You need to hit the disengage button on the side stick, not the AP1/2 buttons. You can also stop the sound by hit the ECAM's CLR button.

You are missing the point:

1) Quantity is not quality. Their have been no noticeable improvements of any kind (additional features etc.), actually the A310 has been generally unusuable due to crashes for several weeks in December/January.

2) I'm not saying Ini is not doing its job. It's the *job* I'm talking about: They are contracted to do a certain amount of stuff and fixes and will do not more than what they are required to (which is fine), but obviously Asobo does not care about them giving the A310 many improvements. The A300, which has been out for a much shorter amount of time, has been superior in almost every way even on release day and has seen a massive amount of updates (additional features) since then. You can't say you don't notice the difference between the Asobo-contracted A310 and their own A300. It's night and day in regards to updates and general fidelity. Therefore I don't expect their A320neo to improve much further than as it is now either.

A new engine type in a future update isn't an improvement?

I was thinking same thing. Leonardo has it, PMDG has it, Feinx has it..Asobo+Inbuilds = terr inop

By the way EGPWS was promised by Inbuilds more that year ago when they did 310. If they can't figure it out, may they should try to hire someone who can !

So it's just another half baked default aircraft, I guess.

It isn't.

No it isn't.

No terrain indication, waste of time.

It's not included because it's performance heavy.

Missing one feature isn't 'half baked'. The rest of the aircraft is excellent.
