BSQ Duke GNS 430/530?

What else could I do?

Hi Nemo, not sure if this helps as I don’t have the Dukes but I do have the BS TBM850 and often have something similar to what you are describing.

The solution for me is to cycle the switches for hot-swapping the avionics.

I don’t have either of the TDS options so always use the 530/430 combo and they’re always non responsive on start up. By cycling through the options it wakes both these units up.

I believe it’s something to do with the hot-swapping capability that can cause this. Certainly Matt from Working Title has posted about this and they don’t recommend devs make this a feature at the moment.

Right now in SU15 we have additional workarounds to make hot swap function properly, and are not aware of any issues. The fix in SU15 is the reason for the BLSQ Duke installer asking the question as to what version you're on, so it can disable the GNS if you were on SU14.

In either case, the hot swap problem does not cause a blank instrument, so this would be unrelated to that. I would try with a totally clear community folder with just a fresh install of the Duke.

I have re-downloaded the BSQ Piston Duke from JustSim 30 minutes ago. Installed with SU15beta option NO -> not working. Uninstalled. Installed again with SU15beta option  YES -> not working.

What else could I do?

Have you tried uninstalling WT Garmin's, then reboot system. Then reinstall your WT Garmin's, then reboot again

I've done as suggested. Uninstalled the Duke. Then I renamed my community folder and created a new and empty one. Started MSFS and closed it again. Then I installed the Duke and chose the SU15beta option. Started MSFS and then the Duke. GNS screens still black! Only thing, in MSFS, I have two versions of WT GNS 430/530: v1.1.4 (26 KB) and v.1.2.4 (9 MB). I could only uninstall v1.1.4. The other version seems to be system relevant and cannot be uninstalled. But anyway, it does not matter if I have v1.1.4 installed or not. In any case, the GNS screens remain black.

P.S.: I've been in SU15beta since it rolled out.

This is my last call for help before I give up.

On my system, it seems that the WT GNS430/530 does not work with the Duke, by no means. I have literally tried everything except a MSFS reinstallation. Deleting the WT folders within the MS Official folder doesn't help either. I have reached the end of my 'wisdom'. Just to repeat, the GNS works with Asobos C172.

Perhaps, someone has an unconventional idea?

Try adding the PMS "WT instruments GNS fix compatibility AAU" file to your Community Folder. Just a thought.

Are you selecting the GNS option?  A couple of switch thingys on right side of dash.  Manual explains all.  Good luck,

Never heard about this. From where would I get this?

Sorry, I cannot see anything you describe. Switch things?  In the manual I find 19x  GNS but nothing describes any switch. Only thing I'm unsure, are so-called "aircraft and avionic updates" (AAU) - not sure about these and where to get them?

Go to your EFB.  Page/Tab 1 Options. There you will see the various navigation options available depending on what software you have installed.  Choose GNS 530 under Primary.  Choose GNS 430 under Secondary, then click the confirm button.  Be patient. Within ten or so seconds your GNS GPS should appear in dash and if power is available I bet they will light up.  Give it a try and good luck.

PS…the switch thingy came from my memories of earlier BS planes, like he King Air.

Got it. Thank you so much. I'm such an word not allowed ... at least sometimes.
