June 8, 20242 yr I played with this app for a few hours today. Installing, uninstalling, restarting PC, downloading latest version etc.. etc. etc. This app is buggy, only since the last update a couple of days ago. Today , I could get maybe one or two startups and flights, and then all of a sudden, I lose all communication with my ISP, active sky, Chrome browser, low bandwidth warnings, etc. etc. Uninstall the Map program, and everything instantly returns to normal.. I am not wasting any more time. Right now, this app is as bad a a virus, in my opinion. Edited June 8, 20242 yr by Bobsk8

June 8, 20242 yr The new version of Map Enhancement did two things that slowed me down. First, and most significantly, it "reset" my anti-virus scanning... Previously I had to whitelist core.dll; after the update, core.dll was quarantined and I didn't see that. It took me an insanely long time before I thought of checking the quarantine folder, found core.dll, restored it, and whitelisted it again. Second, the new version of Map Enhancement changed the Map Options back to the default "High LOD Enabled" which takes forever to load. This was a pseudo-hang; it didn't actually hang, but I got impatient and closed MSFS anyway, because I thought it was hung. After resetting to "Load High LOD images only when flying", MSFS started loading properly again. Edited June 8, 20242 yr by prolixindec

After reading your post, and realizing that I had zero problems with Map Enhancement until I updated to latest version 3 days ago, I went to my backup drive and downloaded an install that was about 6 weeks old. I installed that version, and so far it is working fine again. I will not update date and report back what happens. So far so good, no issues. The version I am using is (7.5.11) Edited June 8, 20242 yr by Bobsk8

Make sure, if you think as I do, that something is not right with it, you let him know.
June 11, 20242 yr I managed to narrow this down to 'intrusion prevention' within my Kaspersky anti-virus software. Switch this off and you should be good to go.

June 12, 20242 yr I have no antivirus at all (except Windows 11 default defender) and no issues at all, also not with the newest version of this mod. Always loads, always works, does not prolong loading times significantly (how could it, I have 2500Mbit/s DL speed on my rig, 10GB total available through fiber on my home). Here is the error message I get :Apply hosts change failedUnable to patch hosts file. I have tried all the solutions listed above and also what various Google sites have recommended with no success.I use this mod when it first came out, but then they changed the version and the new one won't load. Please help if you can. ThanksOk so I think we both have the same issue and is different then others that posted with the solution being the anti virus, I just use win11 default protection. So after 2 hours of trial and error, tried the uncheck Read Only, searching google, trying older versions of the app to no avail. So then I started looking into the error more closely and in my case bam it just hit me. ME app cannot find the file because it's not visibly there but physically there if that makes sense? So in my case (even with show hidden files & folders checked under folder options) I could not see this file, the only way I can see it is my using an app called "Everything" (it's a very good open source file search app that I have used for years), so using it I can see the file and even open it, edit it, save it. So using everything I right clicked the host file and added to a winrar file as a backup first, I also noticed I had a file in the 'etc' folder named 'hosts.backup' so in windows explorer I removed the .backup extension and bam the host file I can see it now.Loaded ME app and no more error about the hosts file ; )
