(Think it's NVidia 400 series cards only but I could be wrong.) I'll be honest Sparks, I've had thirty five years of 'miracle' fps boosters and tweaks which turned out to be placebo or dodgy at best. But this one, well, it works! frame generation isnt new - we've had it in VR for a very long time, new is bringing it to none VR users - and potentially filling in those black areas with... something generated. If a game is being develop for multi-platform, then it is going to be vulkan for obvious reasons. Some developers will give you the option to choose between Vulkan or DirectX. DirectX is very important to Microsoft/Xbox thus it will have the latest and greatest features first. They have new updates like, DirectSR, "developers easily integrate FSR, DLSS, and XeSS upscaling into games" and more AI features coming in the future. I have gotten the vulkan error in xplane many times. In my opinion, it is an issue with Laminar's implementation of the API. I don't get it. What about it makes you cringe? That it is made by Microsoft or that it is for windows only? Does it also make you cringe that "Metal" is made by apple and is for apple devices? I've used Windows since the first iteration. Windows 95. I've had every version, with the exception of Vista. I was a die hard Windows fan, through and through. Almost 5 years ago, the owner of X-Aviation suggested I add a MacBook Pro to my setup, for testing purposes, so I can test the add ons I make on Windows and Mac. After 2 weeks on the MBP, I left my Windows rig, with the exception of doing some texture work in Windows, because Substance Painter uses iRay for its baking, and iRay is only compatible with nvidia graphics cards. Now that the new version of Blender can use Metal to bake my texture maps for me, I have no reason to go back to Windows, except to test my add ons. Without getting into a "My OS is better than yours" debate, overall, MacOS is a far better OS to Windows. Period. Boot times are faster. Programs open faster. There's no registry to deal with. It's far more secure, so viruses are non existent. Malware is a slight possibility, but even then, I have to grant the software permission to run before it can do anything. I've had 1 crash in Blender, in the last 4 years, and that was because I was trying a beta. X-Plane has never crashed, except when I was testing add ons I was working on. To put it bluntly, I hate Windows. It's great for gaming. But such a badly bloated, vulnerable OS. This is my own opinion. If Windows does it for you, then great. There are things you can do to maintain a Windows install, such as anti viruses, registry clean ups, junk file cleaners, etc... For my purposes, and I can safely speak for every single programmer, 3D/texture artist out there, Windows is the worst out of all the operating systems. Programmers actually prefer Linux. They'll use Mac's if they have to. But they normally won't touch Windows. Edited June 17, 20241 yr by GoranM

What about all the .NET programmers out there? What about C#? It depends on the type of applications we are developing. I worked at a large corporation where developers got to choose between mac/windows and most team members chose windows for JAVA development. I work with a lot of servers, so my preference was linux/mac for a while. It's not that Linux/Mac is better than windows, it was that as Developers we loved the bash terminal, and it made our jobs easier. Once windows implemented WSL, I slowly stopped using Mac. Now my macbook is collecting dust because I prefer windows. It just a personal choice. 1 hour ago, GoranM said: To put it bluntly, I hate Windows. It's great for gaming. It is not that windows is less secure, it is just targeted more due to popularity. One of the craziest things I use to hear was mac users saying I don't need anti-virus because I'm on a mac. Both mac and iOS are vulnerable. Recall how easily iOS devices were being jail broken simply by visiting a site? And the many zero-day attacks they were constantly patching. June 17, 20241 yr Regarding DirectX vs Vulcan for those that know, besides the tremendous amount resources it would take to implement. Would it be technically possible for laminar to offer DirectX and Vulkan at the same time? To be clear, I'm not saying anything should change, I'm only asking from a technological standpoint because I see other games doing it. Flight Sim PC - OS: Windows 11 Pro. CPU: i9-13900K. RAM: 64GB. I had an alternative to choose whatever I wanted. But you made that based on the number of games and other apps and addons available for that OS which happens to be Windows and it wasn't because of the quality of the OS. So in essence, the development community made that choice for you since they all wanted to be in the larger market along with the addon piling on into to MSFS, which leads you with no choice at all in that regard. It like you can't just choose the latest PMDG aircraft to fly in X Plane to compare its flight modeling or running MSFS nativity in the MacOS to compare its performance in a PC..
June 17, 20241 yr Win11 or Mac, you have to sell your soul. So many freely giving away there security and data to an unknown. Austin might use Mac but he has plenty of bad things to say about it. Once upon a time people used to have to rummage through your garbage for your info now big tech companies have it stored and available. Edited June 17, 20241 yr by mjrhealth
