July 10, 20241 yr 21 minutes ago, 787flyer said: Quick update: There is a small improvement in VRAM consumption with 1.0.1 version installed but TFDI have explained they believe the issue with the VRAM is the RealLight textures that are used to provide night lighting. I have asked TFDI if RealLight can be disabled if a user wants to try that approach while they figure out another solution. FWIW, I tried a different airport, this time Aerosoft's Cologne airport. It's a nice airport with some detail, but not usually very taxing/heavy on my sim PC. With 1024 Texture Resolution , 35% AI and no ASP3D weather running, in VC view I see 6.3Gb VRAM already consumed. As soon as I move to an external view, then I am at 7.0GB (running an RTX 3070 8Gb currently) and then the dreaded CTD occurs. EDIT: Suggestion is to rename Reallight.DLL to something else such as RealLight.OFF. If you decide to delete it, make a back up first! Thanks for the feedback and suggestion, Mark. Only tomorrow night I will be able to test it. Have you tried with the RealLight off? Any improvements? Cheers
July 10, 20241 yr I can confirm that disabling Real Light saves about 1.0 - 1.2GB of VRAM on my RTX4080. The beacon and nav lights are still way overblown with RL disabled. Hopefully these issues get sorted soon. Edited July 10, 20241 yr by exeodus Alan
July 10, 20241 yr Hello, Could someone please post a picture of your front panel with the PFD showing (P3D of course), I find it strange that even with high resolution my PFD in P3D is not good (see pic). https://imgur.com/TxtjAuv Thanks! Edited July 10, 20241 yr by Hamilton_ Hamilton Müller
July 10, 20241 yr Prepar3dv5 version here. New bugs I found: 1) No matter which value I insert in Payload-Cargo kgs page, it never gets above 68584. Load is shown in weights page as 43%. And I can't load more weight. 2) SIDs and STARs are completely wrong and foolish. I have to load every fix by hand. 3) Framerates: I have good 33 framerates in example in AS EDDF, but as soon as I climb above FL220-250 they drop down to 3-4. As I descend below FL250-220 they get again 33 FPS. No matter weather, lights, gsx...
July 11, 20241 yr Please sent this feedback to TFDI. They need know it. But im happy to read that you can fly this plane on P3D.
July 11, 20241 yr PSA: Navigraph navdata is now available for the TFDi MD-11. If you open up the FMS Data Manager and click Addon Mappings and then Scan it should add it to the list automaticly. Enjoy your Tri-Holer flights! Kind Regards, Peter
July 11, 20241 yr P3DV5 user Hi guys, here I am back again. I opened a ticket with TFDI two days ago signaling these issues: 1) SIDs and STARs wrong and foolish with no real fixes 2) It does not allow me to load more than 43% payload (freighter version) 3) I can't save my Hoppie log on code 4) ACARS preflight page does not work 5) Since p3d version does not have simbrief, perf, charts working in the EFB (you should have specified this), in which folder can I save my simbrief flightplans and in which format? Would I be able to load them by the MCDU? 6) 33 FPS below FL220-250 climbing or descending and 3-4 FPS above FL220-250. Here is the answer whose items I still have to verify. Hoping this could help someone. 1) We have been in touch with Navigraph for the last few months trying to get the P3D build added to their data hub, they have confirmed it will be supported from the next data cycle. 2) This is not a report we've had before, can you please report in the MD-11 Section of our Discord server here: www.tfdidesign.com/chat 3) The Hoppie logon problem has been resolved and will be pushed in the next MD-11 update, to get this please re-run the MD-11 Installer. 4) Again, this is not a problem we've seen reported yet, can you please follow the steps for reporting the loading problem? 5) The P3D EFB will be receiving an update in the near future that will include SimBrief imports, however I cannot guarantee that it will match the functionality of the MSFS EFB. The MD-11 in P3D does not currently have a specified folder for flight plans. 6) We are also aware of a problem some users are experiencing above FL220 in P3D, I will attach a temporary community fix; In the Aircraft.CFG please remove the following lines: contrail = fx_MD-11_tail startup = MD-11_start WetEngineWash= fx_MD-11_nowash SnowEngineWash= fx_MD-11_nowash We will be addressing this in a future update, however, at the moment changing those lines should resolve the drop in FPS.
July 11, 20241 yr Hi Folks, Related to the RealLight problem that is consuming vRAM,I would like to share the following with you: I did test this yesterday and as mentioned by @exeodus above its quite a significant saving of VRAM by disabling the RealLight.DLL file (found in the P3D /Gauges folder), but of course you will lose the night lighting in the VC and external light illumination. The savings for me were: within VC 5.5GB VRAM consumed and external view 6.1Gb consumed, so some headroom left if you have a 8GB graphics card or larger memory capacity. So I did try one other thing, by trial and error which was NOT suggested by the TFDI team! I preface this, that you try the following totally at your own risk based on some quick tests I did in P3Dv5.3 HF2. In the main P3Dv5 Simobjects/Airplanes folder you will see 2 or 3 folders related to the TFDI models. Caveat: I only purchased the freighter variant. Your sim may be different if you purchased the pax variant, so folder names may be different. I went to a folder TFDI_Design_MD-11F_GE. In this folder is a RealLight.XML file with some night texture settings and texture file mappings I discovered. In the <settings> section of the XML file you will see a line that defines the texture sizes. It reads something like this <...... size="4096,4096"> Now I changed this to "1024,1024" bearing in mind I have my P3D Texture resolution setting typically set to 1024 textures.I STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you make a backup of this XML file BEFORE making any changes! Result 1: The lighting works, but the readability of the text on the VC panels is somewhat poor/fuzzy at night, at least for my eyes. It did reduce VRAM consumption with approx 0.3GB more VRAM consumed as opposed to RealLight being completely disabled. So there is definitely enough VRAM headroom available in this scenario for an 8Gb card. So then I tried a compromise and set the texture settings in the XML file to "2048,"2048". I did NOT change my P3D Texture Resolution setting though! It remained at 1024 setting within P3D settings. Result 2: With this setting, I was able to see the panel text at night clearly and while my VRAM consumption increased, it was still OK. My VRAM consumption in the VC was stable at 5.8GB and with external view showing, a stable 6.5GB consumed at night. If you are viewing the VC or external aircraft during daytime then your VRAM consumption should be lower. I did not suffer any sim CTD while taxiing the aircraft. This was at Aerosoft's Cologne airport which has medium complexity. So my findings (preliminary) indicate you may(?) be able to run with the 2048 textures set in the RealLight.XML file which may give you some VRAM headroom in running a 8Gb GPU and flexibility to flying at night until TFDI can figure out a more permanent solution. If you don't do any night flying then disabling the ReaLlight.DLL may be a better solution for you as a temporary measure just to get flying and prevent sim crashes. I dont know if you will see similar results or not in your sim based on my quick tests, but I leave this up to you. Hopefully this may be of interest to some of you that are frustrated with not being able to fly the 3-holer in P3D right now. 🙂 SpoilerSystem specs: MFG Crosswind pedals| ACE B747 yoke |Honeycomb Bravo throttleNow built: P3Dv5.3HF2: Intel i5-12600K @4.8Ghz | MSI Z690-A PRO | Asus Dual RTX 4070 Super OC 12Gb| 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200Mhz |Samsung 980Evo Pro PCIe 500Gb | WD Black SN850 PCIe 2Tb | WD SA510 4Tb |beQuiet 802 Tower Case|Corsair RM850 PSU | Acer Predator X34P 3440x1440pMark AldridgeMSFS2024 SU5 & P3D v5.3 HF2

When you say "not good", perhaps you could be more specific on your issue. Is it the colors, is it the sharpness of the text, is it artifacts you are seeing? What specific areas of the PFD are you referring to? My PFD looks like yours. I do find the text and the small scale graduations in the yellow band of the altitude tape to be extremely hard to read at least for my eyes when viewing the VC on a 3440x1440 monitor. What Texture Resolution are you running in P3D? Are Mipmaps enabled in your P3D settings? What monitor and resolution? This would be helpful to know.😉 SpoilerSystem specs: MFG Crosswind pedals| ACE B747 yoke |Honeycomb Bravo throttleNow built: P3Dv5.3HF2: Intel i5-12600K @4.8Ghz | MSI Z690-A PRO | Asus Dual RTX 4070 Super OC 12Gb| 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200Mhz |Samsung 980Evo Pro PCIe 500Gb | WD Black SN850 PCIe 2Tb | WD SA510 4Tb |beQuiet 802 Tower Case|Corsair RM850 PSU | Acer Predator X34P 3440x1440pMark AldridgeMSFS2024 SU5 & P3D v5.3 HF2

July 11, 20241 yr BTW: Navigraph have released the MD-11 support for the FMS Data in the latest release: More info here: https://navigraph.com/blog/tfdi-md-11?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2407_s&utm_content=tfdi-md-11 If someone can post an update as to whether this fixes the SIDs and STARS issues observed with the outdated AIRAC cycle the TFDI MD11 ships with that would be very much appreciated. Thanks a lot Mark, this is exactly what I wanted to know, since there is NOT a single video of TFDI MD-11 (P3D version) on Youtube, I thought it might be some setting, as the EADI, PFD on ALL my other planes: ie. FSLabs, iFLY, Pmdg, QW, Majestic, etc. (with my graphics settings) are FAR better than this TFDI MD-11 PFD, hence the curiosity to know if it was released this way (P3D). Thanks again, Regards, Hamilton Edited July 11, 20241 yr by Hamilton_ Hamilton Müller
