TFDi MD-11 released--includes P3D 4-5-6 versions

Hey guys, what about the EFB? I only get 4 sections: Payload, Services, State and Options.

Dispatch, Perf and Charts are missing.

is this just mine or does it interest the whole P3D family?

AND

Even saving the Hoppie login code, the line is blank the next time I load the plane. (besides it's quite annoying the typing)

AND

engines running, brakes released, it keeps being stopped...

Hi,

Yes for first and second (EFB for P3D only 4 sections and Hoppie login is not being saved), same for the whole P3D family.

About it "keeps being stopped with engines running", It´s OK here.

But I could add dozens of bugs of this unfinished buggy product.

Done 3 flights so far

How was it, regarding FPS? I hope it's better than the FSL birds (Airbus and Concorde) and the iFly Max.

I'm on a 8700k, 32GB and a 1080 and is impossible to fly. After loading I'm already at 6.7 of 7.1 VRam. Crash soon after doing anything. I'll have to wait for some optimization (which they plan for P3D). My seetings doesn't make much difference even with 1024 textures and medium settings. Quite frustrating. for now I'm not interested on the MSFS version so I'll have to wait and hope for good news.

Cheers

Same here folks:

Purchased the cargo variant only. Am running P3Dv5.3 HF2
The download and installation process was pretty trouble free although I l kicked this off early this morning. I was installed in around 10mins start to finish.

Selected the default MD-11F GE variant and loaded into the VC while at the default airport (KRND) with no add-on weather: VRAM usage sits at 6.1Gb with 1024 textures loaded.
At Frankfurt with Active Sky weather loaded, 6.9Gb VRAM consumed.I run ASP3D with conservative settings
Frame rates look OK, It was set at 35 FPS limited I have set which it achieved.

As soon as I moved to external view however, the sim crashed but I could see the VRAM was totally exhausted at 7Gb (I have a RTX 3070).
Fortunately I purchased an RTX 4070 Super 3 weeks ago and will instal it this weekend.

I have been able to power up the aircraft but as reported above I am missing some options in the EFB including Simbrief configuration which does not show.

I will be logging tickets with TFDI as these seem major oversights.

Hi Folks,

So just a quick update based on some tickets I raised...

TFDI are working on a fixing the VRAM issues with the high-res textures, so hopefully we will see some relief in the near term for P3D users.

In the interim, I had to reduce my Texture Resolution given I have an 8Gb graphics card installed to 512 textures. Obviously not ideal, but at least I can get into external view without the sim crashing. Frame rates were good and sim was smooth.

As for the missing EFB features, it looks like this is not a bug, but deliberately left out by the developers. This means the Charts function incl Simbrief integration, the Performance tab and Dispatch tabs are all missing. They are looking into what can be added in a future build.

All in all, I feel rather let down by the absent functionality in the aircraft that has been in development for some years now. I have been able to taxi around the airport, but not been able to start a flight yet because of not being able to do proper flight planning with the advertised features.

I will be flying the PMDG 777 this weekend until TFDI have sorted out those problems!

FPS is quite good, but the autopilot disconnects randomly and ILS is a bit flaky.

One more thing, the MD-11 does ship with some Navdata, but it is outdated (2021). According to Navigraph the ability to download the FMC data will be in the next AIRAC cycle, so look out for that one.

Absolutely not usable for me: reaching cruise level my FPS drop to 4. Heavier than fslabs. 4,5 years of development for such a thing.

MY APOLOGIES, I WAS WRONG.

I did another flight and it worked perfect, always well above 30 fps. Maybe the problem was in the scenery.

There's a setting in the EFB options to disable allowing the hardware to override the A/P--I've seen a few people mention that it's very sensitive and will trip the A/P off with even small movements or noise on the axes.

Thanks, I'll try that. I had no idea what that setting was referring to, Bob.

Well, I maxed out 16GB of VRAM with a 4080, so that is beyond disappointing for textures that are definitely not 4K.  Also the external and beacon lights are way overblown and completely unusable at night.  This is 717 release debacle all over again.

Try reducing your Texture resolution. In the VC, it did not make much difference to the quality of the cockpit.

A number of P3D users have complained about the same thing. TFDI are working on a "texture resolution pack" that should hopefully resolve the issues with VRAM exhaustion. No ETA on when that is inbound though.

Thanks, Bob, that fixes the issue for me. One flawless flight chalked up today.
