I would characterize this under novelty, and yes, "coolness", but "innovation"...?

Nope. It's almost literally window dressing...

I'm extremely curious to see the level of fidelity the Asobo Max will attain.

As others have noted, Asobo keeps raising the bar on the fidelity of their default aircraft.

If the Asobo Max is as good as, say, the A310 (which is being yet further enhanced) or the iB 320, it will materially affect both 3PDs business.

For e.g., if Asobo's MAX is as good as their A310/A320, I'm extremely unlikely to purchase a payware MAX for $70, regardless whether it's iFly or PMDG. Especially as I already have the excellent PMDG 737-700.

There's just not enough differentiation between the NG and Max to make me lay out that much cash when there are so many other interesting 'liners either released or soon to be.

It probably would've been better for iFly to figure out the 757 or 767 where there hasn't been nor will be competition for awhile.

The 310 and 320 were developed by inibuilds. Are they working on the 737 max or is this done completely in-house? I thought it was the latter. If so, I have not seen a high fidelity airliner from Asobo's in-house team, so I am open but very cautious about how well that will be executed.

Don't forget iFly is also a commercial product developer.

Far more potential customers for a 737 MAX than a 767, let alone a 757.

AMD Ryzen 5800X3D; MSI RTX 3080 Ti ; 32GB Corsair 3200 MHz; ASUS VG35VQ 35" (3440 x 1440)
Fulcrum One yoke; Thrustmaster TCA Captain Pack Airbus edition; MFG Crosswind rudder pedals; miniCockpit FCU; CPFlight MCP 737; Logitech FIP x3; TrackIR

After the experience of MSFS2020, Idk how people can still compare the freeware Max8 that will come to MSFS2024 to commercial products ...

Because the A310 is pretty darn good?

Good. Still nowhere near a commercial product.

Yes, agree.

It is an Asobo product, and we'll see how well they execute.

It might be another A320-level (the original), or it might be at the level of iniBuilds Airbuses.

Based on statements Jorg and Seb have made, and with the baseline set by the A310/320 I believe it will be a similarly High Fidelity rendition.

And while we haven't seen a "study level" airliner out of Asobo yet, the work they've done on the CJ4 and the Longitude is quite impressive.

It's true that the original Default fidelity level wasn't great.

But even then it was still leagues ahead of Prepar3D, and at least as good as X-Planes Default add-ons.

If you've been keeping up with the news, there are various Default add-ons included in the sim that are unequivocally payware grade, and some that are even legit High Fidelity.

We're just not sure because they've done nothing other than announce the Max's existence.

Oh, puhleeeze...

It's certainly better than Aerosoft's CRJ, not to mention better supported.

And that's hardly the only example available...

Yea WT has done a great job bringing those planes up to snuff.

Strange looking flight path vector in the HUD shot; looks more like a ground roll reference symbol with an extra appendage.
