MS2024 - AI Traffic/ATC improvements?

Featured Replies

I've been watching all the eye popping eye candy and new missions but the elephant in the room has not been asked.  What's going on with AI Traffic and default ATC?  We were promised real world traffic with airline liveries to match what ATC is calling for native in the sim.  No need for these third party traffic add-ons anymore.  Also ATC was to be improved but there's no mention of that either.😶

You’ll never find a more dedicated bunch than those who give their time and effort to make AIG the Rolls-Royce of Ai traffic. A behemoth like Microsoft will never provide the same quality of liveries.

  • The fact that you haven't found the right article doesn't mean that the question has not been addressed. 😉 From the preview by yours truly: Unfortunately, couldn't get "hands-on" with this

ATC improvements are coming post launch.

Asobo/Microsoft never promised that.

But they have added a ton of real world aircraft models to 2024 for live traffic to use, some of the press videos from yesterday have images.

I’m not at my PC at the moment so I can’t post screencaps easily, but maybe someone else can.

Yes they did.  Go back and review past live streams (maybe three or four back)...🧐

They were in talks with airlines to officially get rights to use their liveries in the sim for this purpose.

Yeah I read this with joy. Hopefully the models are good quality and easy on frames. Would be great if they released the paint kit so the community could get painting before launch!

No, they didn’t.

they never promised every single livery in the world. That would probably be impossible. I’m betting some of those companies will say no.

They have gotten a handful of new ones for 2024. I remember seeing Qatar, Alaska, Spirit, KLM, United, New Zealand

They have been saying that since 4 years, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

Thankfully there are several third party developers working on AI traffic/ATC solutions. One of them is already very good in both AI traffic and ATC and others look promising.

So hopefully in a few months we will have the choice between several decent third party options for AI traffic/ ATC - and MS/Asobo can focus on flight model, physics etc.

Xbox can’t use these third party ATC programs.  So Asobo/Working Title will still work on it

In any case how do you decide which airlines you want in your sim? With AIG you decide as each airline is optional. How would Microsoft provide an equivalent service? I doubt they could even if the desire was there which I very much doubt.

I thought @Kaiii3 was working with MSFS on AI.

I don't argue with what you said about AIG however Microsoft could provide a phenomenal implementation if they do indeed have @Kaiii3 working with them.  The days of "deciding" what airlines in the sim are pretty much over if done right.  While I love AIG the management of AIG and AIGTC and installing liveries and models from multiple sites some of which just hang have always been an issue.  Not to mention trying to do bulk installs which can take hours upon end and if one of the links doesn't work the whol install process stops waiting for your input, it is a bit heavy on the install and management piece compared to true one click installs...

Never say never, MS seems intent on bringing the best in the business together and they have proven this by bringing some very talented dev teams into the fold.

But alas we have another thread to ask the same questions so that is good.
