I don't argue with what you said about AIG however Microsoft could provide a phenomenal implementation if they do indeed have @Kaiii3 working with them.  The days of "deciding" what airlines in the sim are pretty much over if done right. 

He could well be but will be under a NDA. It doesn’t explain how you decide which airlines you want or how you keep the numbers down to maintain your preferred fps.

I just added my bit for an alternative viewpoint. I remain loyal to P3D. 😉

1.  You don't, you fly realistically with the airlines that are flying those routes (based on availability and legals of course)

2.  You use the traffic slider and to be honest with Lossless or native frame generation most people are cranking things up and getting their desired FPS in FS2020, I cranked my TLOD/OLOD/ traffic, ship and road traffic and get 120FPS with G-Sync and Lossless in FS2020.

 

There are new ways of doing things outside how we did them in P3D, some are pros, some have cons like you can't perpetually set your sim to be more historic which a lot of us did/do in P3D... In general though the pros are worthy of the jump for me at least.

Has this been said clearly? Or is it more a "we have some ideas and we'll see"? I mean, I would love to see something more concrete about the ATC plans.

I'm not missing the many improvements coming with MSFS2024 but I have to say I was a tiny bit disappointed that there was nothing about ATC (AI can be easily patched with AIG or FSLTL).

 

Finally, I am also a bit concerned when I see the job advert in Asobo's careers page, still looking for an ATC programmer after 4 years. Hoping that it's there just someone forgot to remove it.

According to the people who attended the event, Asobo said they’d improve ATC in 2024 post launch. They’re waiting for the new flight planning and ai traffic to settle down

They’ll do all the major airlines. Will they do the smaller airlines in far-away places? Debatable. AIG has everything.

I only rarely get the requirement to manually download a zip. But I’m selective about what I install. BGLs preferred so any “NO PAINTs” can be switched to another that has a livery. After installing new or updated files I use AiCompanion to check for irregularities. Clean data is important to me. Never done a mass install. If you haven’t opted for non-freeware aircraft the number of NO PAINTs will be very high.

Just as I now do in P3D and achieve 60fps everywhere.

Yep, that LSFG tool is like a Swiss army knife for frame rate performance across a whole bunch of sim platforms and games.

As psolk mentioned upthread, you can load up your AI to levels that would make things untenable and use LSFG to compensate.

It’s not an “ATC programmer” they need. It’s people expert in ATC phraseology and procedures for FAA and ICAO areas plus mathematicians expert in trigonometry.

Radar Contact had all three experts available but the coding was done by someone who had no knowledge of any - John Decker. Completely different skill sets.

JF are small fries compared to giant company like MS

Airlines would get more money out of suing Microsoft than JF

I'm former ATC and never seen any request from MS/Asobo for ATC input. As far as I know, there are plenty of us old timers just hangin' out.
