Given your PC is far above the minimum specification for MSFS2024, it does sound likely that the older drivers gave you CTDs. Buy an Xbox Game Pass subscription. You can try MSFS2024 on your PC for a relatively small amount. Then cancel the sub before one month is up. Better than buying at full price and discovering it doesn't work for you. October 15, 20241 yr Does somebody tested 2020 Airports in the 2024 or did I missed it? Which are working and which do not?

October 15, 20241 yr While loading times were fast I had the problem where the sim would pause at various times for 5-10 seconds. I've had it pause during flight planning, when taxing, during take off and landing, ect. Did anyone else have these issues? I can only assume it was downloading scenery? Which is weird since I have a 1gig internet download speed. I wouldn't think there would be any kind of pause for that. I have a 3070 and 32gigs of ram so wouldn't think those would be the issue.

I know the alpha is over, but mine would CTD or freeze anywhere from the loading screen to configuring the controls, to just after clicking "Fly Now". Twice, I managed to get into the air for about one minute before a CTD. I did not have time to try updating my Nvidia drivers before the alpha closed, so I wonder if my older 536.23 drivers may have caused the issue. Not being able to use the alpha makes me nervous about purchasing the release candidate when it comes out. Yes updating the drivers did allow me to start the sim and do some free flights. i9-13900K | 6400MHz DDR5 (32GB) | GeForce RTX 4090 24GB MSFS 2024 | PMDG 777-300ER | FBW A380X | Fenix A320 | ini A350

Most 2020 add ons seemed to have some conflicts with the new terrain system. I don't think most things we bought will be quickly backwards compatible in 2024. We will be at the mercy of devs to patch these airports for us. I'm fully expecting to have to pay upgrade fees for many...hope the release version proves me wrong. I fully expect PMDG to charge some upgrade fee for example. Edited October 16, 20241 yr by nikolajz1

But it is the opposite of what the Devs said..

If they only have to fix some terrain issues they might do this for free. They‘ve done that before when a new World Update introduced new DEM and they’ve never charged for it. But if they decide to overhaul their airports with other new features, then maybe, depending on the workload. I saw a test on Youtube of 2 airports: one was a review of North Weald airfield (latest by Burning Blue Design) and that one seemed to work perfectly. Someone used the walkaround mode of MSFS2024 and that was a great way to appreciate all the details. The other one was Halifax. As promised by Asobo, it worked but not without issues. The ground textures were very wrong in some places, esp. the ramp, Here are the two reviews / tests: North Weald Airfield Halifax: Hopefully these are simple to fix. October 16, 20241 yr I'm guessing missing dependencies. Halifax may use a ground texture that isn't in the 2024 Alpha but who knows. Or maybe their textures are missing that defines what they are. We'll have to wait for the SDK to be sure I guess. I should have tested Halifax myself, see how their custom sat imagery reacts to seasons changing. Edited October 16, 20241 yr by Tuskin38
October 16, 20241 yr Bunch of new vehicle models were spotted in the Alpha, just randomly parked at LOWI https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/they-told-us-that-they-would-listen-to-us/658443/49?u=tuskin38 According to Jeff Favignano, who was at the grand canyon event, Seb said they plan on having parked cars on the sides of roads at some point in 2024. October 16, 20241 yr I do not know if this is happening to anyone else but I keep trying to use MSFS2024 keyboard shortcuts in 2020. 🤣
