October 12, 20241 yr Going back to 2020 there was a lot of testers protesting early August release, but MS did it any way. Lots of testers said it wasn't ready for the August 2020 release. Lots of people that weren't testers were breathing hard on copium, trying to justify that having a poor version of MSFS2020 was better than none. MSFS2024 is going to have teething issues upon release, but it will be far more polished and capable at release than MSFS2020 was for years. That, along with all the new features, is cause for optimism and excitement for the new sim. October 12, 20241 yr I predict that I'll be sitting back watching all the chaos unfold. Server issues, a million questions on compatibility for every add-on, etc. People are going to just copy a massive community folder over (or use a manager) and start the sim and then start posting "my sim won't load, HELP!" Anyone going in day 1 - all I ask is, "Are you sure?". I'm giving it a couple days at least to see how the dust settles. For people going in at launch - good luck. People need to have realistic expectations. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF

People need to have realistic expectations. Exactly. The more i read about the alpha the more i am convinced this baby is nowhere close to ready. I put a delay at better than 50/50 now, because more people are realizing the true state of the product. 2020 was in far better shape at release imo, and that is saying something. Also, cooling will be a real issue if reports are accurate. GPUs running at 100% is a thing. Exciting times, but expectations should be tempered. Oh, and some are reporting that installing the alpha hoses 2020. Not confirmed but quite a few are reporting that. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro
October 12, 20241 yr A prediction, seriously? Go for all the predictions you want to believe however they absolutely will NOT delay its release.

October 12, 20241 yr Moderator In programming terms alpha is the first set of tests and is usually conducted in-house. Changes to functionality can still be made with things added or removed. Beta testing is when it’s released to a small diverse subset of people and features are locked. It should come with a NDA so no public comments are allowed. I’m confused why Asobo / Microsoft would release such an early version to selected members of the public and not insist on a NDA. It goes against all the rules of correct protocol. I think all the rules of traditional software development are dying a rapid death Ray. 1)Adapt previous product into new product 2)Announce the product 3) Hype the product 4) Announce release date. 5) Pre-distribute partial code (YouTubers, Early Access) 6) Release product 7) Periodically release fixes over 4 year lifespan 8) GOTO step 1 and repeat. My comment should have included a . I used to be a member of TechNet with Microsoft when I was certified with them. We used to get hundreds of alpha/beta/rc cd-roms with new builds for new windows versions for a couple YEARS before they were released. Different times, everything is tested live these days.
