Global Enhancement Pack v4

Recommended Posts

I'll watch it as soon as I get home (and I get my sim with me). I follow Adam on Discord, but I didn't see any discussion about that. Just an announcement and that's all.

I downloaded the pack and decided not to use it.  I already use ORBX Global and all the openLC packages, so I don't need new textures, and I'm not interested in the other stuff like shaders and the global ships stuff.

He makes several references to "landclass" and "seasons", but there are no landclass or season files in the package.

I am lost with Adam Discord... cannot find any downloadable files

I actually created a Discord account just to get this pack.  Finding the download files section is not at all straightforward and took me about half an hour clicking around until I found how to access the section.  I actually don't remember exactly what I did.

I don't know why he forces people to download the files from his Discord when he could just put the link on his Youtube video.

Exactly! I hate Discord as for me it is „modern IT trash”.

By sticking to Discord Adam significantly reduces potential range of his package.

Even a ton of info given under his YT video is already discouraging :-))

I might give it a try, but since I was aware Orbx has finally opened the v6 section for their Base products in the Central, I might start with it ...

Why bother, look at the video. Is this the look you want for Prepar3D v5? This guy looks for clicks on his youtube channel all the times and this title gives a lot of interest of people. I think ORBX Global makes a difference to the good. Why spoil it with Adams - i don't know what?

If one want's more than ORBX Global there is Terra Emergence Project TEP https://prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=149854

Ha, yeah I agree, the video doesn't hold well, especially with that big brown wall of haze.

As for TEP, that LM forum link is out of date by around a year.

The link below (a French forum) should have a working download for "v2.6.1 ultimate", note the download is ~7.6 GB in size.

Look towards the end of the thread and use your browser's translate options for the language of your choice.

One problem that ORBX Global and/or openLC users will run into with texture replacements is that ORBX uses their modified landclass lookup table.  Any replacement textures will likely be designed to work with the stock landclass lookup, so if using ORBX you'll get the wrong textures for a particular type of landclass if you change the textures.

Thx Dave,

and, since in your SIG sim is 6.1, tell me how are you going with it and the new Orbx Central support? Have you been able to install the Global Range products / libraries? Does it make 6.1 look better ?

What about the NAV database that isn't available from Hervé's site for v6. How do you cope with the outdated navaids, airport runway numbers, etc?

And, last but not least, are you using ActiveSky P3dv6 with it?

I've added the TEP items via an add-on.xml.

In this case the add-on.xml also holds a number of additional items related to the world, global and effects besides TEP, the goal being to have an add-on.xml to include all additional items for texture replacements etc.

I also have Orbx Global and LC's installed

The following 2 pics are over France in the hills around La Gandihon - Orbx only

?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

And same area France in the hills around La Gandihon - TEP enabled on top of Orbx.

?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

And TEP does make a difference in this area.

Cheers

I use the v5 ORBX stuff and just added a discovery path to the v6 addon.cfg to point to the files.  I doubt the v6 ORBX stuff will be any different from v5, but I could be wrong.

I don't use Herve's airport data, and for v6 I haven't installed the Navaid, Intersections, and Airways.  I don't know if the stock data for v6 is more current, but I'm able to find most intersections I need for flight planning in the stock flight planner map.

Yes, I use Active Sky P3Dv6 and really like it.  I also use ASCA for the clouds.

I was going to download this and try it out, but when I went to sign up to Discord it asked me for my mobile phone number. I am one of the few people that do not own a mobile phone, So I cannot join the discord to get the pack.
