You don't get out much, do you?

So, an ad hominem attack is the best you can do… why not prove my assertion wrong instead?

Mostly, yes. Live ordnance - as opposed to training units - are generally only carried when needed for the mission.

Modern aerial weapons are finicky beasts and they require careful handling and maintenance. Breaking them out of storage, assembling and testing them, and loading them on the aircraft induces wear and tear. Even just flying around is actually pretty rough on them, and every piece of ordnance I’ve ever heard of has a lifetime limit of flight hours they can endure before they need to be expended or destroyed. And they’re not cheap, either, so you don’t wear out weapons without a good reason. Unit cost of an AIM-120 AMRAAM missile is about $1.1million…no need to break one when you’re just pooting around the States on training missions.”

  • Meh… it’s a civilian sim… who cares. 😕

  • It's Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, not Microsoft Civilian Flight Simulator 2024.  It has several default military aircraft including armed ones.

I'm really, really trying super-hard to understand what point you're trying to make, but I'm coming up empty.

Is this some sort of pacifist rant?

No, that’s why plane crashes have not been modeled in the sim since 9/11…

And similarly, weapons will remain cosmetic only.

What’s wrong with peace? 😘

No, that's not ad hominem, it's a realistic assessment of your awareness of how often combat aircraft (and ships, tanks, subs, helicopters, etc.) go about their daily business fully armed.

There are a significant number of .mil units who's mission is standing guard, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

There are also a significant number of units who are forward deployed, and must be prepared for self defense, or who are actively engaged in combat operations.

Pretending that the representation of IRL combat aircraft with weapons is uncommon simply means you are underinformed.

Nothing, except it is obviously an unattainable ideal.

Planes fly with weapons, and we should be able to do so if we choose.

And, as said before, no one is making you participate.

You mean a Ready Crew / Alert 5?

Yes, but they’re not flying around in civilian airspace on the daily.

Did you not read the quote I provided from someone that should know.

What source do you have to the contrary?

Nothing. Until someone decides they don't want peace with you, and when that happens, you better hope your pilots have done their weapon training.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 simulates the whole of Earth, not just civilian airspace.

My source is years spent in the USN as an Intel Specialist. So I'm "passingly" familiar with what goes where while carrying which payloads from and to various locations.

Re-read my previous post for clarification. You need it.

In reality, if not on a live range, ordinance is not carried. So, what we had was reality.

In reality training ordinance is carried all the time to simulate weight and aircraft performance while carrying stores.  Plus many training munitions are able to simulate dropping them without coming off the jet so no what we had was not reality.

Love those cosmetic weapons.

 9950X3D - X870E Aorus Master- TUF 5090 OC - 64GB DDR5 - 1500W HXi - Titan 360 RX LCD - 9100 Pro x 2  - LG 45GX950A - HOTAS Warthog with Ava Base

So weapons are - what? Shown but not simulated (I suppose) ? I mean, the weapons/misiles/rockets/guns etc won't be able to actually DO anything, right? It's just "for show" ?

Where are they mounted in a 737?
