Stuttering every 10 seconds

Featured Replies

Hi all

Having a very frustrating time of it today, as some stutters appear to have come from nowhere, with all aircraft, at all airports (even default).

Everything smooth with frame gen, 30FPS, had some perfect flights for a few months. Now I am getting a stutter every 8-10 seconds wherever I am, in cruise, on the ground, over water, anywhere. After system restarts, still happens.

Recently I have updated my AIG models and installed the FBW A380, which I have since deleted  I have now turned off FSHud, so no AI traffic, and emptied the community folder.

Any ideas where to look next?

TIA.

Check out if it's Windows' wallpaper changer changing pictures in the background?

That was the culprit in my case!😉

Stutters every 10 seconds might suggest a background process causing issues.  Have you closed all unneccessary processes?  The main suspect is possibly a virus checker.  Can you either turn off defender or set it not to scan your msfs flder?  Any other virus or malware checker should also be closed to check it is not the process causing problems.

Good luck finding the culprit.

Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)

One long method is to close processes one by one in windows task manager and see when the stutters stop. It may take awhile because some of these processes are necessary to keep windows running, closing them may cause a need for a system reboot. And there's no guarantee that you will find the culprit this way.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

Yeah I've closed everything down that doesn't look dangerous to close.  Strangely on my Dynamic LOD program, I've got simconnect showing up as red, not connected.  I'm going to verify the integrity of the game files on steam.

It's just really weird, because I've gone from perfect to stutter without changing anything (other than installing the FBW A380 and the AIG models).

EXACTLY (well FSTL not AIG) the same for me. After the FBW install my sim is a mess. Managed to get OK flight with Salty 747 earlier, then back in 380 and ....unusable. I use 3 sims right now and the others are silky smooth. FPS shows as rock solid 30/60 with or without LS or AutoFPS and stutter all over place. Then suddenly 3 fps and have to log off windows to continue. Task manager won't even show processes.

Are you using FSHud with FSLTL

If so FsHud is the culprit

If you have rolling cache turned on, try turning it off. I dont know if they fixed it, but some time ago I had a repeating stutter that happened every so often, and it turned out that it had to do with the sim writing to the rolling cache iirc.

My rolling cache has been off for months. Been smooth as butter. I use fstl with fshud but I'm now in the pmdg 739 (pre update) and it's smooth as butter..

Did some testing earlier turning one option on at a time and fstl definitely caused it once but it also did it another test without it running.

How do you turn the cabin off on 380? It's that weird back and forth stuttering entirely separate from frame rate.

At the moment the 380 is back in the hanger.

Maybe the FBW installer is doing something strange to certain configs.

Thanks for that, but I'm seeing this on every aircraft.  Going to do a clean sim install and then a clean windows install if that doesn't fix things.  That's me booked for the weekend 😞

My point was, it only happened to him after running the A380 installer, the exact situation you have run into.

There are 4 silver squares behind the co-pilot's seat at the top. The leftmost one switches off the cabin display. However, I believe for this to take effect, MSFS must be restarted. I have seen that when I click the switch, the cabin disappears even without restarting MSFS. But then the textures are loaded anyway, and that's exactly what we want to prevent

Brilliant thanks. I saw a screenshot but had no idea where it was!

Try turning off 'Use NANOVG for XML Gauges' under Experimental.  Let us know if that has any effect.
