I cannot get his linker to move the payware a/c ie PMDG and Fenix hello 🍻, i sent you a private message this morning (around 10 hours ago) on fs.to, not sure if you have seen it. Based on the screenshot you sent me yesterday, it seems like you tried to move the files by using the 'move function' in AL but not all files were copied which is a bit strange. As i said in my message, you need to try to move the files manually using 'Windows explorer' to see it makes a difference, there you will maybe see if there are some issues while moving files. Also, if some files weren't moved, they should still be in their original folder (community folder) and you can try to move them manually. For some users with the ms-store version, there are also known issues when trying to move some files outside of their community folder, not sure if that's what you have but if you try to move them manually you should see at least if all is ok or not. Also, unless you are an experienced user that know exactly how all these things work, it's maybe better to not move those payware aircraft when they are managed by external software (like pmdg operation center and the fenixsim app) because if the link is inactive those program wont find the planes and they might ask you to redownload them again and put them back in your community folder and then you may get confused, it's very important that you understand exactly how all that work. Just reply to my private message if you need more help. Thank you 🍻 Edited November 3, 20241 yr by Bad_T
November 3, 20241 yr Author Thanks for the response. This is driving me crazy. I can move them manually and the link is there, but it takes forever. also: in linker. can you change the location of the community folder to be something other than C:\Users\mecca\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe? Would that be a possible solution? Can I install linker in a new location other than where it resides now in my drive F maybe to drive G? Will I lose my addons? Any other magic I could try? I suppose you cannot include screenshot on here Dom

Addons Linker itself can be moved to any drive where you want it to run, as can the various Addons folders that you define. Moving the Community folder is a more ambitious task, since it moves together with the Official folder... see here: Bert
November 3, 20241 yr ** was just finished typing this and saw @Bert Pieke reply which adresses the same thing, so make sure you read his reply too ** you can move AL wherever you want, just move the full folder that contains the AL EXE, everything will work fine and you won't loose anything. I think you can move the Community folder, but i've never done that myself so yeah it's not really something i would feel comfortable telling you to do. There are some threads in the official forum about that, you should maybe check there, also maybe someone here on this forum has done that and can help you with it. I think if you move the community folder you also need to move the official folder, in my case it's almost 400GB, so yeah it will be problematic if something goes wrong. Also i have the Steam version so folders are different and Steam users usually don't have the same issues as ms-store users. I'm aware that those with the MS-Store version end up with having files in the c:\ drive in that weird location which is sometimes problematic for many users, it's certainly a bad thing, hopefully they have changed that in v2024. When you say 'it's slow', what is slow, copying the files ? creating the link ? .. The Fenix addons is 2.5GB, it will take a bit of time to copy everything, that's normal but you will do that only once and then the link creation should be immediate. It's unfortunately a bit difficult for me to give you more precise indications without really seeing what you are experiencing.

November 3, 20241 yr Author Bad_T....thanks I don't see where I could post a screenshot. The button below for other media will not let me attach a screenshot
November 3, 20241 yr I would like to point out that in the top menu of AL is an Advanced tab. Which shows you how to move asset packages like planes or airports in and out of the Official folder structure. These are kept separate from the assets that you wish to move in and out of the Community folder. You can click to move all or part in and out of Community. Or just click elsewhere in AOL to move part in and out of the Official subfolder. You can't move all the folders in and out of the Official structure because then MSFS can't even run. But you can for instance remove some or every plane and some or every airport just as easily as moving things in and out of Official. For instance I move several modern airports (some of them Asobo default) out of Official and move RedWing 1935 old version airports into official with 2 mouse clicks instead of a long slow process using MSFS Content Manager. And just as quick and easy to go back to all modern airports. A few seconds instead of a complicated task. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
November 3, 20241 yr Author thanks i am familiar with this. Is there anyway to post a screenshot. The button below for other media will not let me attach a screenshot Edited November 3, 20241 yr by meccadom
November 3, 20241 yr To post a screenshot you need to upload it to a third party images upload site like for example imgur.com or imgbb.com (there are many others), then you can simply add the link to your message (there is a button 'insert image from URL'). What Bert said is important to understand, the location of the community folder and official are not relate to AL, those are simulator settings and to change those you need to be very aware on how to do it (i'm not). AL can be installed anywhere and just reference those folders, but in your case changing the location AL is probably useless. You didn't reply to my question 'what is slow', so still not really sure what you meant by it in one of your previous messages.
