Yeah, and honestly I was planning on an upgrade anyway, but I wasn't expecting performance quite this bad. I'll play around with it, but I was going to upgrade regardless.  Getting 3 solid years out of my current system is a good run.

Don't rush it!!  They were on a 4090 and latest AMD chip and still getting single digits in Free Flight but GREAT performance in career/mission so it might not be your system!  If you do a career or mission and have solid performance I'd be more inclined to say it's the sim than your system but at the same time I am not one to EVER talk someone out of an upgrade LOL...  We spend thousands to go 1/2 a second faster at the track in real life a new PC for better FS performance is COMPLETELY reasonable to me LOL!!

Have a Wonderful Day

  • Agreed with poster above. My i5-8400 and RTX 2080 could run 2020 at reasonably high settings with about 45 fps (Cessna 172), while the new sim struggles maintaining the same graphics settings. I only

Nah, I'm getting significantly better performance in 2024. Much smoother, just really a pleasure to fly .

Same.  Windows 11, 12700K / 32GB ram / RTX 4080.

I am as well, but I had so much junk installed in 2020, I'm thinking a lot of my boost is just from having a clean install.

However, now that FS 2024 is running somewhat normally server-wise, I definitely think it's superior to 2020 in most ways.

The trees and environments at ground level are a sight to behold, especially at airports in mountains in Europe and many other places.

No, much more than that. I compared to a vanilla 2020 and it's just a lot smoother and better, and uses the hardware in my system much more efficiently.

9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen

1440p ultra widescreen display.

RTX 3060ti

32gigs of ram

On a handcrafted airport, I get between 35 and 50 fps.
