Multi screen in 2024 is great

Featured Replies

I am impressed by how well my 4 screen setup works in 2024.

Middle is 4K, 2 sides 1080 and the touch screen at bottom is 1080. I maintain 30 fps amazing at ultra and high settings, lots of pixels.

I run Navigraph and popouts on touch screen. I also use Octavi to control AP etc works as well as Knobster, but with more controls.

Soon AirManager 5 will ship, then I will be all set.

That's actually really promising to see.  I was also going to ask if they had been able to remove the fisheye effect of ultrawide monitors.

Can you also set bezel angle and FOV?

Yes you set it in advanced graphics settings. I use angle of -90 and 90 for the side screens. When I first set it up on day one, it did not work well on one of the monitors one was distorted. But on day 2 it worked very well. Field of view is changed on all 3 monitors by zooming using mouse wheel.

I am still running a fresh install of 2020 as well. Similar view setup and frame rate is good there as well on my new setup, specs in my signature below. Built just for 2024, big upgrade from i5 and 1070.

Might I suggest you invest in a monitor color calibration tool.

Sure, just bear in mind this was an iPhone shot in a dark room far back from seating position so severe angle on LED screens changes colors on side mons. The sides are actually curved screens, looks great from pilot position.

I think the colors are actually quite good, warm in sun cold in shade. I have not calibrated the screens yet at all. The setup is only 5 days old, lots to do. CC (color correction) is way down the list at this time. 😉

Hi,

Can you explain how you set up the 4th monitor with the instruments.
Actually I would like the regular cockpit view on screen 4 .
The three others screens gives you the panoramic illusion

Thank you!

Thomas

A couple of questions if you don't mind, as I am looking at building a triple screen setup. Are you usung frame genaration to get these frames? What airport and aircraft are you using when you see these frames? If you are using something like the Fenix or PMDG in a big airpport with AI and getting these frames, then Asobo have done some serious work! Cheers.

Yes but I think it only works on my middle screen (#1 4K). Fenix mostly, but also the R66 and a few GA planes like C207, B36 etc.

I fly mostly around the NE USA: PWM BOS JFK ACK IZG LAC LGA MHT BGR BML CYHZ CYSJ CYQB. Also Scandinavia ESSA ESSB EFTU and a bunch in Norway.  These are areas I flew around a lot in real life as a pilot. But I also fly all over the world just random areas.

Hi,thanks. Sure, that's what I thought. It would be a game changer if Nvidia could get frame gen to work across all three monitors, I mean an absolute game changer!

Yes I agree. But by having my #1 monitor being my center monitor. I really don't notice lesser frame rates in the peripheral monitors, unless I specifically look hard at them when turning fast taxiing or very close to the ground in a helicopter.

My side monitors are also only 1080's and I don't really notice that either as most of the time they really just are to fill in peripheral vision. And we don't even see color in our peripheral vision, your brain fills it in. It seems my mind also upscales the side monitors for me.

Are you experiencing some kind of flickering on the trees and the grass when you're on the ground? The reason i'm asking is that there are many users having this issue (me included, using 5 screeens setup).

Yes not often but a few times I have seen grass appear and disappear every few seconds. Mostly in No Payware airports, I would say.

I always focus on enjoying what works, and I accept a few glitches especially on something as complex as 2024. It took quite a while to fix things in 2020, and some things still have problems in 2020.

I do have to say that 2024 is much improved for multi screen use. I too use at least 5 screens sometimes 6, 4 always on my 2024 computer. Others are laptops and tablets, and a few WinWing units.

You can use the AM 5 Beta.  Most but not all instruments work though.  I think this is due to variable name changes in the sim.

Nice to hear as I too have a "Quad" setup using 1440 displays.  Haven't gone the 2024 route yet... I'll give them another six months and upgrade to a 4090 GPU after the 5000 series is released.

Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!)  Windows 10, (hold off for now on Win11),  EVGA 1300W PSU
Netgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displays
Full array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.
