Why does my MSFS 2024 look so dreadful?

Inexcusable. They will and have to let us by choice download all world tiles!!! We wait for this.

Nobody wants to download all the world tiles, but for example in MSFS it was possible to pre-download the area where you wanted to fly.

Also, it's ridiculous that even the cockpit of your plane and the wings of the AI planes are streamed, this causes hilarious but disappointing situations (see the representative screenshot thread on the official forum). Particularly in airport areas, there are so many elements that break immersion with their failure to load in and their ridiculous draw distance...

  • looks like a streaming / server issue to me

  • Local SSD/NVMe storage is relatively cheap these days and it makes no sense to be so dependent on high capacity remote servers and very fast bandwidth for the sim to work acceptably.  The day MSFS2024

  • I'm thinking it's MS Server issues. All depends on the path it takes, time of day, alignment of the planet, etc, hahahaha

You do realize that you are talking about petabytes (thousands of terabytes) of data? If you have a computer that will accommodate this, I'd be interested in the specs ...

Did you try changing the dynamic setting for FPS target?  I can replicate the problem very easily by changing my target FPS.  When I set it very low - the mountains look great - it I set it too high the mountains look exactly like the OP picture.

I have monitored the network traffic for the sim and it is directly proportional to my FPS target setting.  I am on a 1 GB Xfinity connection and Ookla constantly shows my lowest transfer rate/download exceeds 850Mb/sec.

Fixed by reinstalling windows.

It looks like this on 30FPS and also with dynamic FPS turned off altogether.  However if I set it very low, well I don't want to be flying around at 15FPS?

That is not how I have observed Dynamic working.  I set my FPS target at 20 but the sim runs at up to 40 fps (Dev Mode) when I am away from built up areas or at altitude.  Dynamic seems to only lower TLOD and ??? when your ACTUAL FPS drops below the target.

When FPS exceeds the target - dynamic uses the settings you specified in Graphic Options.

At least that is my understanding at this point.

Is this a problem at their end?  Because these mountains remind me of FS98.

Distance mountains are unchanged from 2020.  However, 2024 has a major LOD issue - it feels like Asobo uploaded the xbox version of flightsim for RTM for PC's.

The actual issue for me could have been solved by following Microsoft's procedure to fix the hosts file:
