I've read a couple of reports recently about guys who have lost all their settings and config files. That can be a real PITA!

Custom cameras are easy to back up. But how to backup our personalized controller configs?

Oh man that’s a scary thought.  How do we back up controls?  I’ve spent more time getting my controls set up to my liking that actually flying it seems, I’d hate to lose them.

For the Steam version here is the path: Choice of the Steam install path:\Steam\userdata\47557404*, in this folder you will find all your configuration

In: Choice of the Steam install path:\Steam\userdata\47557404*\2537590* you will find only the personal configurations 2024 of the peripherals (joystick, rudder, etc.)

* ID may be different for you.

Config : AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3DMSI PRO B850-S WIFI6E - RAM G.Skill 2 x 32 Go DDR5 6000 MHz CL30 - MSI GeForce RTX 5080 16G VENTUS 3X OC PLUS - 2 WQHD (2560x1440) screens and only one of which is for MSFS

That itself is another abysmal mess.  It would have been great if you had an option to backup all sim settings to your local documents folder.

Thanks, will get in the habit of regularly backing that up to save potential future grief.

I would advise you to
1/ save every time you change an item.
2/ Disable cloud backup

Why 2/: if you make a major mistake without identifying it and you exit MSFS 2020/2024, it will be saved in the Cloud. So reloaded is not found. if you use solution 1/ you can go back step by step of backup.

NB : For MSFS 2020 => In: Choice of the Steam install path:\Steam\userdata\47557404*\1250410* you will find only the personal configurations of the peripherals (joystick, rudder, etc.)

Wow, life saver. Thanks!

And for MS Store? Where is the option to disable cloud backup?

My only fear is that when you disable cloud backup, it will lead to issues somewhere else. At least my experience with other games, was never a wise thing to do to disable cloud backup (e.g. broken local savegame which is then easily overwritten by the cloud savegame (and vice versa, btw.)).

What does the "Install Path" refer to?  I opened steam and navigated to the installed files which took me to "D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Limitless" but that does not appear to be the correct folder.

Try this path  "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\157080040\2537590\remote"

(Numbers can be different).

Intel Core i9 13900K, NVidia RTX 4090 FE, Corsair Vengeance DDR5 64GB@6000MHz, Samsung 990 Pro 2TB NVMe M2, Asus OLED PG42 UQ

À quoi fait référence le « Chemin d'installation » ? J'ai ouvert Steam et accédé aux fichiers installés qui m'ont amené à "D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Limitless", mais cela ne semble pas être le bon dossier.

On the desktop you have the "Steam" icon, right click, a menu appears, click on "properties", it opens a window with a target field which gives you the path of the exe (Installation path)

I have Steam cloud saves disabled globally and have had that setting for a few years.  No issues for me yet with any games.  I also use a backup program nightly to back up all files on my PC since I know one day I will need that.

This made me smile big-time. Couple of days ago, I wrote somewhere that it would be cool if I could backup my assignments, export or whatever, XML-Format...

And now you come with this... THANK YOU!
