Where is the aviation traffic?

Featured Replies

Landing into Newark today (busy airport), and with aviation traffic set to 100%, I saw no aircraft landing or taking off.  Is there an issue with MSFS rendering AI traffic?

My apologies if this has been discussed, but I am just now getting back to forum discussions after a prolonged break.

You'd still need models and liveries for it. I'm assuming MSFS 2024?

I just went and checked at EWR and see about 30-40 default ai moving including arrivals and departures. They aren't in the correct liveries or the right types for the most part (mostly generic 737, A20N, B787 etc) with lots of United in there but they are there. What traffic setting do you have it on?

If you're doing commercial IFR it is great!!  If you're doing VFR or gen. av. then wait a while.

I went to General in settings, traffic, then selected AI Offline, and set traffic to 100%. Didn't see any traffic.

How do you see all this traffic in Newark?

For AI, I think I have two options, 1. “AI Offfline” or 2. “Offline”

I can't handle the Real Time Online. Too much crazy stuff going on. I just us AI Offline at the moment.

I set AI Traffic type to Real Time Online under the Online tab. You can also set this under the Flight Conditions tab when selecting your airport where it gives you the option of Live, or AI offline or OFF.

If you run Real Time Online, you'll see some aircraft coming and going. If you run AI Offline, you'll see plenty of static aircraft depending on your setting, but you won't see any aircraft taking off, landing or in the air. The reason for this is because the trafficAircraft file in the fs-base-ai-traffic folder has practically nothing in it, either by current design at this time or a mistake.

Hopefully this will be changed soon.

For traffic? I was flying EGLC to LOWG early this morning, nothing at all at EGLC (although it would have been closed at that time, well before the curfew).

As soon as I was up I heard a flight passing overhead for EGBB. Then it got busier and busier as I closed in at LOWG.

Based on the AIG flightplan database, there should always be quite a few planes on the ground at EGLC London City (if you have the traffic density @ 100%). I would be very disappointed to see the airport empty if BATC was enabled.
