Thranda Pilatus PC-12 DGS Series released

Featured Replies

Hello, I am looking for review if anyone purchased this.  Pretty surprised on such a low profile release.

From the store page

thranda_pc12%20-%202024-12-08%20125544.j

This model is one of the most comprehensive and in-depth simulations published to date by Thranda, and is a continuation of Thranda’s "Dynamic Generation Series".  More about the DGS Series

The PC-12 is a pressurized, single-engine turboprop passenger and cargo aircraft manufactured by Pilatus Aircraft of Stans, Switzerland.  It is designed for flexibility, with the capability to operate from short, unimproved airstrips, making it ideal for regional transport, corporate travel, and utility missions.

Thranda’s implementation of the PC-12 is one of the most comprehensive and detailed rendition of this aircraft to date, and features a highly configurable panel, an EFB with an extensive list of functionalities, support for 3rd party add-ons, like RealityXP’s GTN650 and 750 units, as well as AviTab, and makes use of 8k textures throughout the plane, ensuring extreme detail and fidelity to the original.  6 static liveries are included, but the dynamic livery editor can be used inside the sim to reconfigure two further paint scheme variants: a classic scheme and a modern scheme.

Special features:

  • FULLY configurable 3D instrument panel.
  • Over 50 instruments to choose from! (Including Aspen EFD 1000, and support for RealityXP GTN650 and GTN750)
  • Move any instrument to any location on the panel, or even between pilot and copilot's panel!  (Might require adjustment of default lighting knob)
  • Comes with 2 panel presets, but can easily be expanded by moving instruments around, using a simple and intuitive interface.
  • Save your own presets, and even share them with the community!
  • Instruments can be moved in 3D directly, on a 2D pop-up preview window, or by numerical entry for precise placement.
  • Realistic custom fuel system.
  • GNS430 and 530 can be swapped out, but a restart of the plane is required, as 430s and 530s are mutually exclusive in terms of compatibility in X-Plane
  • Dynamic livery editor (like in the Kodiak, the Beaver, the Wilga, the Islander, the C337, the C172, the C206,  the C208 Caravan, and the Pilatus PC-6)
  • Full PBR control! Create stunning metallic liveries, or matte, sand-blasted look in mere seconds!  (Applying the color scheme to the livery may take a few seconds to around a minute, depending on hardware).
  • Additional control over dirt/grime, adjustable in real-time to dial in the exact desired amount of wear and tear.
  • Create "virtual" liveries, based on two basic common design layouts, and assign any colour to any available paint segment.
  • Quickly create preview of livery in real-time, using intuitive controls.  Previews include visualization of metallic materials and dirt overlays.
  • Apply selected livery in real-time, right in the sim, without the need to even touch a 3rd party image editor!
  • Option to change the tail number in real-time, or disable it altogether. (Enter a "space" instead of a callsign number to create a blank tail number.)
  • Easily and quickly create dozens of paint schemes in-sim!
  • Also supports 6 traditionally painted liveries, all visible in a convenient pre-selection preview window inside the EFB (Tablet).
  • Uses SkunkCrafts Updater.
  • Excellent hi-res PBR realistic materials, featuring true-to-life plate deformation and to-the-rivet precision.
  • Features Pratt & Whitney PT6A-67B turboprop engine with precisely modelled behavior.
  • Rain support
  • Implementation of latest lighting technology in X-Plane
  • Glass parts done in 8k textures
Feature-rich Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) with pop-up/pop-out capability with the following features:
      • Use it in 3D: you can move it from the pilot's side to the copilot's side, mount it on the pilot’s or copilot’s yoke, or disable it completely in 3D.  Mounted on a swivel when mounted on windows, for convenient viewing angle.
      • Use it as a 2D pop-up window, or pop the window out onto a secondary screen.
      • Use it in VR in either mode.
      • Control the brightness of the EFB in 3D or 2D
      • Intuitively set up like an iPad with different apps, all documented in the included manual.
Here's a list of the apps in the EFB, and how they work:

Aircraft Options App:
  • Option to run the engine in realistic mode or simplified mode.
  • Control over chocks, tie-downs, and engine covers
  • Control over the electric tug
  • Window reflections on or off
  • Instrument reflections on or off
  • Startup running or cold and dark
  • Ground Power Unit (GPU) option
  • Steering options: realistic or simplified.
  • Control over exterior and interior lights via a schematic of the plane.
  • Control over doors and engine access
  • Master control over all exterior lights simultaneously
  • Master control over all interior lights simultaneously
Weight and Balance app
  • Full control over aircraft's weight and balance.
  • Control weights on a per-seat basis, or dial in the desired total, and the desired CoG directly.
  • Hover mouse over main passenger/pilot area to reveal seats and loading parameters
  • Control weight in each seat by scrolling over each seat
  • Control fuel quantities in the wing tanks by simply scrolling over the wing tank with the mouse.
  • Add weight to the copilot's seat, and the copilot shows up.
  • Switch between Lbs and Kg.
  • Preview weight and balance on a graph
  • Load preset configurations, and save them to disc for later use.
Instrument options app
  • Call up pop-up windows for GNS430/530/Autopilot
  • Toggle 2d pop-up window of autopilot.
  • Switch between InHG and MB display in the Kollsmann window of the altimeter.

Dynamic Panel app
  • Move any instrument to any location on the panel, or even between pilot and copilot's seat, on the pedestal
  •  Supports 3rd party RealityXP GTN650 and GTN750 instruments, also fully configurable
  •  Save your own presets, and even share them with the community!
  •  2 operating modes: Layout page and Individual Instrument page.  Move instruments around a virtual panel layout or use numerical entry for precision placement.
  •  Also allows for control over instrument placement in 3D space, via special click spots that are made visible in edit mode.
  • GNS430 and 530 can be swapped out, but a restart of the plane is required, as 430s and 530s are mutually exclusive in terms of compatibility.
  •  Supports G1000 configurations (Future update).
  •  Several preset panel configurations, showcasing different layouts and instrument equipment.
Static Livery app
  • Preview available liveries and tailnumbers by scrolling over the plane.
  • Apply dirt and scratches dynamically
  • Also supports 6 traditionally painted liveries, in all their full 8k glory!
  • Compatible with custom liveries.  (Folder names should be named the same as the registration number, and the plugin picks that up as the livery's name.)
DynaFeel app
  • Dial in exactly how difficult you think the controls should be.
  • This simulates different pilot's physique and strength. (Stronger pilots can put more pressure on controls, and hold full deflection at higher speeds).
Log Book App
  • Calls up Laminar's log book in a separate pop-up window.
  • Log your flights and track your virtual adventures.
Checklist App
  • Very complete checklist, allowing for the ticking off of boxes of completed items.
  • Navigate the many pages by using the scroll hotspot at the bottom of the checklist
  • Pop up or pop out checklist app as a separate window
Ground Handling App
  • Call Laminar's default ground equipment, if you prefer that over the Thranda electric tug
  • Opens up a separate pop-up window.
Dynamic Livery app
  •  Create "virtual" liveries, based on one common design layout, and assign any color to any available paint segment.
  •  Supports control over roughness and metalness
  •  Add dirt to your dynamic livery, and save these settings along with your livery preset.
  •  Quickly create preview of livery in real-time, using intuitive controls
  •  Apply selected livery in real-time (Granted, with these huge textures, it may be a bit of a wait... but no external graphics software required!)
  •  Option to change the tail number in real-time, or disable it altogether
  •  Easily and quickly create dozens of paint schemes in-sim!
Flight Computer App
  • Easily visible data like OAT, Groundspeed, Endurance (HH, MM), Range, NMPG, altitude data, airspeed data, Fuel Flow, used fuel, headwind and crosswind component data.
  • Pop up or pop out Flight Computer app as a separate window.
  • Equipment App
  • Swap Pilots:  Choose whether the pilot in command is male or female
  • Recognition lights: Choose whether they pulsate or not.
AviTab App (optional)
  • If AviTab (freeware plugin) is installed, it can be viewed inside the tablet, or as a pop-up window.

SkunkCrafts Updater
  • Thranda recommends using the standalone SkunkCrafts Updater app, to stay up-to-date on the latest versions of the plane.
Flight dynamics and systems:
  • Detailed and accurate flight dynamics and weight and balance with the help of multiple real-world active PC12 pilots and maintenance crew.  This not only gives this aircraft the proper "feel", but also accurate takeoff, climb, cruise, and landing performance.
  • The PC-12 is a fast and versatile aircraft, but it has some flight characteristics that require some special systems, ilke the shaker/pusher, in order to enhance safety!
  • The PC12 is equally comfortable at the world's busiest airports as well as back country dirt strips.
  • Detailed electrical system, including bus tie breakers and failure modes, batteries, avionics busses, generator, starter, external power (GPU), non-essential bus, and Standby Bus.
  • Tie-downs and chocks actually keep the plane from moving, even in high winds.
Advanced FMOD-based sound system:
  • High fidelity, multi-track sounds with smooth transitions and amazing atmospheric effects.
  • Different sounds for front of plane than for back of plane
  • Panning around the plane in exterior view yields awesome 3D audio effects, including "blade slapping" sound when view is perpendicular to prop, and the typical “Whaoh” sound of blades entering Beta or Reverse mode.
  • Individual buttons and switches in the cockpit each have their own unique sound.
  • Sounds actually give you clues as to what's happening under the hood… such as electrical load on the busses, hooking up the GPU, etc.
  • Outside wind intensity is affected by slip and AoA. (The more the surface area of the fuselage is hit by oncoming wind, the louder the sounds)

Thanks for this! I was completely unaware of the development, and funnily the release.

Interestingly, I can't find a single video on YT, either review or promo.  It's like Thranda wanted to get no attention on this release. You see, X-Plane is a niche market within a niche market (flightsims), so devs needs to advertise their addons as much as they can, not vice versa.

Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.

Actually there is photos on there forum. Wasnt hidden from anyone, i think there is even a brief video

Well known to be underdevelopment this year so good to see it out and available. Pilatus's contribution to the big single turboprop market - RPT and Aeromed. Driven by that Pilatus logic so no doubt Thranda will capture and reproduce it correctly. Will get this glad I sat out the alternative PC12 which is terrible.

Good stuff!

I saw it but with TBM 900 just around the corner for XP12....

really....the tbm is just around the corner...oh wow....I have my head burried in FS2024.....defo defo coming back to X plane if the TBM900 is making a comeback...I have the Challenger 650 aswell ...just the best aircraft ever......nothing comes close to them two planes!

Missed opportunity: A configurable cabin (show/hide indvidual seats, cargo vs passengers) as the real PC-12 is really, really flexible in that area.

Alto I'm updating the TBM900

Yes, can't wait (I'm not hiding my excitement by any means)!

I initially bought the plane purely to do a soundpack for it (TBM 900 Cockpit Sound Immersion), but I quickly fell in love with it so much, it became my absolute favorite GA aircraft to fly in any sim.

Speaking off, the soundpack is updated with some new and more realistic sounds freshly recorded in the real TBM. Will probably release it in the next few days. Also, it will be updated for XP12 version asap.

In short, I'm weak for turboprops, so I will probably get PC-12 too in the near future.

Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.

If it's Thranda, it's good.

I have several of their add-ons and have enjoyed every one.

I prefer to pair them with the SimCoders REP, but that's not always available.

One thing I really like about their Pilatus and Caravan is that you can choose to run a G1000 instrument panel.

Im getting a bit tired of learning manufacturer proprietary avionics for every new addon 😉

Anyone properly tested it already? How it is compared to Kodiak (only turbo prop I own from Thranda)?

Man, I wish I knew. I'm still flying their OLD Kodiak because the new one has no REP available.

I did see that there's a Q8 Pilot review, but he's not the most in-depth source of info.

But the six pack is always the same and all glass looks alike. The tiring thing is learning where the human-machine interface designer has shotgun blasted all the switches and controls to get the aircraft going.

Oh, yeah, the Six Pack, whether analog, digital, or represented on the PFD is no problem.

It's the nav systems that are painful...

That said, I spend most of my time in DCS World .mil jets, where nav is fairly basic (never a concern over VNAV!) and I think my brain is just full of all those sensors and precision guided weapons systems. 😁
