I also use BATC with buttons only. Works very good.

However I use also a tablet interface via AxisAndOHs

Its usable with just buttons without speaking very good, Also without the tablet solution.

But I think I will change maybe to speaking when the new LLM arrives ... we will see.

I agree, looks like I will have to be microphone shopping when this new version comes out, I have been using just auto respond up till now.

  • This is also a stepping stone towards VFR support and off the rails things like emergency landings

  • This puts BATC at another level.

  • I personally use basic when in UK/Canada/US/AUS/NZ then switch to premium outside of that. non-english ATC sounds a lot better with premium

Looks great!

Is the tablet interface available to download? I would love to try it.

When I got BATC when it first came out, I found a microphone (HyperX Solocast) on sale at Micro Center for about $20. It has worked quite well.  I mostly use auto respond, but there are some places where I need to make the request, so use the mike for those times to avoid pushing buttons.

You can get by with a cheap USB headset. You don't even need to use the ear piece if you don't want.

Now, I use a Shure SM58 vocal mic, but I am not a usual use case for audio 🙂
