These really do look great for P3D peeps, sorely tempted but sadly just don't have the disk space to run them. Am sure the creator has spent a LOT of time producing the various areas, and no disrespect to them, but the price is also a little steep when you look at what MSFS has to offer these days built-in. What area's do you have tktheo93? Maybe I should dip my toe and try one....

I had Argentina and Colombia, but I had to remove them because I needed the space.

I'm going to get Japan. I'm guessing the sceneries don't include different seasons?

I actually have North-, South America, and the EU. I think I'll get Australia today. It is a ridiculously low price for a 400gb gem. I tend to purchase bundles during a  sale. 🙂

I have previously used a lot of Mega scenery v3/v4, Orbx TE and freeware photoreal, but I have to say that the colour match and sharpness is top notch in FC sceneries photoreal. I can highly recommend them.

The devloper is a fair and flexible guy, and thanks to that I have been available to still enjoy p3d 120%.

PS. I actually decided to use p3d over MSFS due to many reasons. Currently, I think that I have more than 10tb of m.2. SSD space, so storage isn't an issue. 😄

Some have and others don't. The dev is currently updating v2 versions, so for example Austria and Switzerland have winter textures and more is on it's way. I live in Scandinavia and have been promised winter textures in the immediate future.

Impressive

Woah !!! I'm jealous. I do have a spare m.2 slot on the back of my motherboard I suppose I could slam a stick on there, won't be 10tb tho

I love FC Scenery, it's good quality.  I have their 3 biggest scenery areas, Alaska, Brazil and China (finally, someone is giving us an Asia that's worth exploring), plus others too.

For anyone interested in FC Scenery"s developer and his plans, I have some interesting information to share after exchanging emails with him.

First, the developer is just a single man, he created all of that scenery by himself and he told me that making this scenery is his full time job, he does nothing else.  He started the FC Scenery project after he lost his job during the pandemic.  He focuses on making scenery day in and day out, every single day.  He told me his ultimate goal is to create scenery that covers every country on every continent on earth and each and every scenery with 90% autogen coverage.  For the scenery he's already created that have lower autogen coverage, he is in the process of going back and upgrading all of those areas to 90%.  Some of those areas already have upgraded autogen packages.  There are also some areas where he plans to create a version 2.  Like the US state of Wisconsin for example is one area he plans to totally redo.

He us one of the few developers that still make products for P3D so I for one am very happy to support him and that he is doing what he's doing and has no plans to jump ship ever like so many other devs did.

Btw, he really appreciate it if anyone notices trees covering an airport or airstrip, to please emails him the ICAO code and let him know so he can fix it.  I'm sure he would also be glad to know if anyone finds clouds that he missed in the scenery too.  He is always working on addressing these things.  His scenery is a work in progress and he continues to make it better and better all the time.

Favorite Sims: FSX:SE, P3Dv5.4, X-Plane 11 & 12

I also wanted to mention, since people are talking about drive space here, it is not necessary to put the scenery on an M.2 NVMe drive or SSD drive.  I have a lot of my photoscenery, airports and cityscapes stored on WD Black HDD's and they are plenty fast enough for storing scenery on and far cheaper storage than SSD's and M.2's.  Those scenery areas run smooth as butter.  It is best however, to have P3D itself as well as complex landclass scenery like Orbx stored on SSD's and M.2 drives.

Yeah, that is true for many cases. If you run on a 1080p monitor with medium settings, you probably won't see a difference between an hdd or a ssd. Thank you for your clarification

I run P3D on 43" 4k PC monitor and thus need to use SSD to achieve a picture perfect sharp rectration of the photorealistic terrain. That said, I tend to run on almost maximum settings and need to have a SSD, actually even an M.2. to achieve what I want.

Supporting this dev is the same as supporting dedication. As you said, he is a one-man team and really keeps P3D alive.

Thanks for your input!

Best

Are these all compatible with 3rd party airports?

I believe many are though it may require a bit of tinkering for some to work.  Anyone correct me if I'm wrong but from what I understand, airports that do not come with their own photoscenery areas should work out of the box just fine.  Airports that do come installed with their own photoscenery areas, you would have to just find, then delete or remove the custom photoscenery files that come installed with the airport for it to work right with this type of scenery.

The only think I'm not clear on is airport packages that come with their own custom autogen for the surrounding areas like RealWorldScenery's Alaska airports or some of Aerosoft's airports for example.  I am not sure if these types of airports would work ok or not.

Edit: One cool thing I like is all cityscape scenery packages from Drzewiecki Design work just fine and are fully compatible.

It's all about scenery library order. The scenery that is "on top" will be displayed.

1) if the scenery comes with custom photoreal just find the photoreal in the addons scenery folder and rename it to whatever it is + .off <-- no need to remove it. That way it won't  conflict. 🙂

2) If a scenery contains custom autogen, that will be displayed as long as it is on top of the photoreal scenery in the P3D scenery library

The best free tool to organize your scenery is free and called Lorby Prepar3D Addon Organizer.

Cheers,

Théo
