also strange things like NZ pies have meat in it (which I have come to love) compared to North Americans being sweet like Cherry Pies, Apple Pies, Strawberry Rhubarb Pies, Pumpkin Pies etc. instead we got Steak Pies or Mince and Cheese Pies and they are a national icon, the concept of putting fruit in a pie is lost on the Kiwis

Actually, we do have meat pies in the USA.  We call them Pot Pies, and I recently got a Chicken and Mushroom one, just like Martin mentioned. We also have them with beef and vegetables.

Yes you do but you have to go out of your way to find them in America, in New Zealand they are everywhere, in the gas station, stores, delis, markets you name it, and they are excellent, big part of the culture here

This is a famous clip from New Zealand's version of Cops, the Constable telling the perp he must always blow on the pie, safer communities together 🤣

One less slice of pizza, less junk food, and obviously losing about 12 pounds!

They're available in the frozen section of almost every grocery store.

Yea not the same, when you walk into every gas station or store in New Zealand the first thing you see are fresh hot pies, not from frozen, made that day, these self serve ovens are all over the country, like I said it's a big part of the culture here

I didn't say they were the same.  It's a different country, so I wouldn't expect them to be.

You said that "North Americans" have sweet pies.  I simply informed you and others that we also have meat pies.

Not trying to argue, just like to clarify what I was trying to get across.

I always have a couple of Marie Callander chicken pot pies in my freezer.  Just the right size for dinner.  Don't care much for the beef pot pies.

Tip:  The instructions tell you to wrap the edge of the pie with aluminum foil.  I leave it off so the edges of the crust are nice and crispy.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

All good, I used to live in North America too, wasn’t arguing just passionate about good food 😁

No worries, man.  I've no doubt that the meat pies in NZ taste way better than the frozen stuff we have.  Same goes for the pies in the UK.

I prefer Marie Callander chicken pot pies as well. I'm not at all fond of the beer pot pies either.

Actually, the Banquet pot pies are nearly as good as Marie's. Since I have no lower teeth, I have to leave the crust soft though. Hopefully the nice folks at Aetna can refer me to another dentist who can make a lower denture for me!
