No luck with beta.  It did the exact same thing.

What for gods sake is so difficult in finally posting this word not allowed eventlog here? Cant believe how many times I have to ask, why you continue to ignore this? Without knowing what is going on, all tipps are mere shots in the dark. Pure coincidence if the solution is amongst them...

Have you tried to delete cloud saves?  Be advised it defaults ALL of your controller settings and game settings and resets your logbook

I deleted the cloud saves per cmd prompt instructions and it still crashed as before.

Thanks

I'm sorry you're getting so upset about my problem.  I have been unable to find an event log on my computer even though I did a search and also many manual searches.  Even if I can find it I do not know how to post it here.

Please give me the folder chain to get to this Event Log and if I can find it will try to let you know what it says.

I am not upset by the problem but how do you think we can support you when half of the information is missing? Having no idea about the event viewer tells me that you have no clue about what you do on your rig, so it is even more important that you try to deliver the information we need to help. Here is some information: https://www.windowscentral.com/software-apps/windows-11/how-to-get-started-with-event-viewer-on-windows-11

We need the entry for MSFS2024 from the moment it closes itself down. You find that in the administrative events, timestamps will tell you where to look. Something is shutting down your .exe and the event viewer might tell you more about the why.

@Roy Warren

Using the "Find" function will be far quicker.
Enter FlightSimulator2024.exe and click on Find Next, like this:

Then click on the highlighted one and you will see a report like this:

After a quick search it seems that sl.pcl.dll is related to your nVidia drivers. If you haven't tried, you may want to use DDU to completely uninstall your drivers and then install the latest version.

A few other options: some folks have been able to solve issues by repairing the .NET framework, more info on that here.

You can also rule out any system file issues by scanning your system for corrupted files, more info on there here.

A clean Windows install would likely fix this, but that is definitely the nuclear option.

Thanks Prolixinec, Fielder and AnkH for your suggestions.  I have checked my driver in device manager and it says okay.  I don't think it's hardware because MSFS 2020 and all my other apps run with no problems, even though my computer is kind of mid range for 2024, but it ran good since day one.

I can't find an event log and maybe there is not one since 2024 will not install.  I tried the Game Pass and it still would not load, but I think I'll take Fielder's suggestion and try the beta.

At this point I think I'll just have to wait on the next upgrade as Prolixinec suggested.

I'm running Widows 11 and I hesitate to change back to Windows 10 because it was working fine before with Window 11.

I'm beginning to think that whatever info about my installation that is stored on the cloud, just keeps downloading back in with each reinstall.  Garbage in, garbage out.  I wish I knew how to cancel my cloud info so I could start fresh and new.

Have you tied resetting your account in Xbox app? You can also change install locations wiping out the old install location. Install to a different location on C drive not the long appdaata location.  Also make sure xbox app is up to date.

Done both with same results.  Changed drivers back and forth.  Tried Game Pass.  Ran several diagnostics and repair programs.  NetFramework repair, deleted cloud info.  uninstalled/reinstalled five times with different locations.

Nothing seems to work.  My other computer will not support 2024 so I can't try that.  Thought I would wait for the next update but past updates start when the program has loaded and running, so I probably can't do that.

As many problems that I've had since the beginning with MSFS-2024, I still really miss not having it.

If what @Funky D says about sl.pcl.dll being related to the NVidia driver is correct, you likely had a corrupted NVidia driver install. In any case, if nothing is broken again, just leave it be and don't fix it.

If it's broken again and MSFS 2024 doesn't load, you may need to do a DDU to do a clean uninstall of your NVidia driver, and then reinstall again. But I wouldn't do this if everything is working, just enjoy MSFS 2024 while it's working.

Had never heard of DDU so I tried to install it but never got it to run.  It kept going back to extract. I clicked RUN and it would go back to Extract.

I came across this .dll file just by accident while looking through a lot of folders and came across, then recalled someone mentioning it, so I deleted it.  Bingo!!  I had changed drivers back and forth three times using NVidia's download/install app with no success.

As many problems that I've had with 2024, I really missed not having it since January 24th. Thanks for your  concern and help.

When you install a new NVidia driver, in theory, all the files should be overwritten, nothing is corrupted, and the install should just work.  But sometimes that doesn't happen. Files get left behind, files are corrupted, then the driver becomes corrupted, etc. That's where DDU comes in, it cleans everything so that your Nvdia driver can be installed cleanly.

I suggest in the future, only install a new NVidia driver if you really need to. If you don't need to install a new NVidia driver, then don't.  And don't mess with DDU unless you really need to - I have never used DDU myself, my NVidia driver installations have always been normal and successful.

For Windows, it's a little different because there are always new security vulnerabilities. So if there is a new security vulnerability, you should install the new Windows update.  But for video drivers, I don't think it's as critical to install as a Windows update.
