February 18, 20251 yr I have noticed that when using this airplane in FS2020 and 24 the frame rates are reduced by half compared to other planes. 1. Are other folk experiencing this too? 2.Anyone know if FBW are working on this problem ? Thanks Trevor Edited February 18, 20251 yr by TrevorS
February 18, 20251 yr It is a very heavy plane on framerate, that much is true. To easen the problem you can deactivate the rendering of the cabin by pressing the clickspot on the back wall of the cockpit (the sign HAT ONLY behind the FO seat).
February 18, 20251 yr As FBW stated on launch of the A380, they fully admit it's hard on resource's, but will try to improve performance over time. You have to have a pretty decent PC to run it without issues. I do find it improved performance wise in 2024, compared to 2020. AMD Ryzen 7800x3d 64gb DDR5, Sapphire 7900 GPU MSSI Tomahawk AM5 M/Board. 1x 4tb Crucial M.2 SSD, 3x 2tb Crucial M.2 SSD's
February 18, 20251 yr Make sure you use the 4k version (and not the 8k) and depending on your hardware, try running the sim with textures = high instead of Ultra. You can also try this downscaled cockpit texture mod. It has the advantage to install like any mod - in the community folder, thus not replacing any default texture. Should you have any issue with it, just remove it from your community folder.
February 18, 20251 yr Great plane that is not really flyable due to how resource hungry it is. I wish they would focus on improving the amount of VRAM it consumes, especially in DX12. I have uninstalled it and may look at it again once they finally get around to optimizing it. Eric
February 18, 20251 yr No problem flying it at all, try to do at least a decent mid-to-long haul with it once every weekend. Wouldn't know about the impact on fps as I don't sit there with a framerate counter open obsessing over it. i9-13900K | 6400MHz DDR5 (32GB) | GeForce RTX 4090 24GB MSFS 2024 | PMDG 777-300ER | FBW A380X | Fenix A320 | ini A350
February 18, 20251 yr Same here - my only complaint is they modelled the 510 ton MTOW variant so it makes it hard to do some long haul flights David Porrett

February 18, 20251 yr Or you (the OP) could use that amazing little piece of freeware, AutoFPS. I don't have a beast of a system but by not having everything maxed and by judicious adjusting of the LOD settings I can run the FBW 380 with no real issues. Having said that, yes, it is a hungry beast (I mean...look at the size of that thing! 😁) MSI Pro Z690-A DDR4 | i5 13600KF | G.Skill Ripjaws V 32GB 3600MHz | RTX 3080 (12GB) | Samsung 980 M.2 NVMe 500GB | Samsung 980 M.2 NVMe 1TB | Samsung 850EVO 500GB | Crucial P3+ 2TB NVMe | 2TB Seagate HDD | Deepcool AK500 CPU Cooler | Thrustmaster T16000M HOTAS | CH Yoke | Various Winctrl hardware | 21:9 1440p UW monitor | Win 11 23H2 build | MSFS2020 | Tony K.
February 18, 20251 yr The plane is not optimized for performance yet. They are first making it work, and then will do performance improvements. You can expect it to get a lot better over time. 9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen
February 19, 20251 yr I agree with what others have mentioned above - A380 is very performance heavy, When it was released - The performance was even worst with excessive RAM usage and what and not. Since then they have optimised it slightly (still not to the level I would stay stable) but it is flyable. FBW themselves have said this several times is that plane is not very optimised yet, They are focusing on eliminating any bugs and finishing up various systems on the aeroplane. Once that is completed - they will optimise it for performance. For me when using A380 with inibuilds Heathrow and no traffic, I get to around 28 GB of RAM usage on 4K version. To the OP - use the 4K version if you're getting terrible performance, turn the cabin off - this does not help much in my opinion. But since this is a freeware project expect continuous future updates which will over time get better.

February 19, 20251 yr Hi, One remark with this plane. On FS2024 (regular version, not the update 1), when selecting this plane (version d205c4e) and configuring it, it appears with no front landing gear in the plane presentation for livery selection. But the plane is ok when loaded in the scene. Did you notice this also? Patrice. Edited February 19, 20251 yr by Patrice35
