March 13, 20251 yr Today I updated to 572.70 and decided to also install the nvidia app. I don't usually install the app, but I want to try RTX HDR. Now I cannot save any settings in nvidia profile inspector - I get an "unhandled exception" error message. Apparently there's a workaround (I haven't tried this myself) - but this messes up nvidia control panel. Users have reported that making changes under manage 3D settings results in an "access denied" error. Has anyone been able to resolve this? My first troubleshooting step is going to be to DDU-remove the nvidia app and the current driver, then reinstall the driver without the app. Mods: This is relevant to both MSFS2020+2024 as many people here are using nvidia profile inspector to force DLSS override to use DLSS4 using nvidia profile inspector. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

Having identified nvidia app as the culprit, I'll try to install GeForce experience. EDIT: It appears that geforce experience has been discontinued. Oh well. I guess I'll manage without it then. March 13, 20251 yr No issues here besides (no surprise) that if I change settings in the nVIDIA App they also are changed in the NV Inspector but not necessarily use the exact same naming convention. Do you use the newest possible NV Inspector? Without any custom names .xml file? Greetings, Chris AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 2x32GB DDR5 6000MT/s RAM, MSI RTX 4090 Ventus 3X, Windows 11 Home, MSFS2024
March 13, 20251 yr No geforce experience is still going. I am now using v2.4.0.18. And it works very well if you know what to do. As far as the Nvidia App, it is a pice of word not allowed. it will make your 2024 crash at odd times. However it works ok with 2020. Months of testing... March 13, 20251 yr Well, since I am presently on Xp12 only ( again 🙂 ) I don't have those quiorks, and have been using both the Nvidia App and Nvidia Inspector. But I will probably drop the App one of these days and revert to using only the Inspector and at most the the Nvidia Control Panel. One thing I notice and have to manually edit in the App are the settings for a fixed FPS. If for instance I set it to 30 FPS in Inspector, then in the App the corresponding field appears completely messed up with a loooong integer (???)... About to give up on the app and make a clean install of the latest Nvidia driver. Long Lives the Inspector (Poirot)... I was able to install GeForce experience, but unfortunately the in-game overlay is disabled. Hence I probably won't be apply to enable RTX HDR - which was the reason I installed the nvidia app in the first place. I'll try the workaround then - fingers crossed. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
March 13, 20251 yr @Cpt_Piett Hopefully the fix will sort it out for you. I did a bunch of driver and app uninstalls and re installs before I stumbled on the fix. I should have posted but glad you got the information out to help others.

All my games and apps (including MSFS2024) are detected, and the in-game overlay is enabled. Here's the link. Soon after starting GFE, I was asked to update - which started the installation of the Nvidia App. Luckily, I was able to choose cancel. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

That is what happened to me when all of the DLSS4 stuff started and I started experimenting and that was before installing 2024, but 2020 would load and once on the Welcome screen would essentially lock up necessitating ending the process. When installed 2024 no could start it either and I'm puzzled why some can get away with this, the app, and other not. March 13, 20251 yr What are these aps even needed? I have not used any of these aps since P3D and I've had less problems or aps to worry about with MSFS 2020. Can someone explain how these aps work together to improve FS 2024? Update: I only ask because I want to try Lossless Scaling and I'm wondering if these aps are needed to get LC working properly? The other ap is RIVA to lock fps. Too many aps to keep track of and it makes things more confusing. Edited March 13, 20251 yr by CFIJose MSFS
