March 14, 20251 yr Today I became my AMD 9900X3D combined with my excisting 4090 RTX on my excisting 670e Aorus Mainboard. PBO activated Positive 200MhZ SMT ON SVM OFF Curve optimized just quick and dirty for the time being with negative 20 at all cores Driver puts the SIM on CCD0 wich has the X3D Cache, NO optimized OC at the moment. 32 Inch 4K screen or Varjo Aero 4K resolution as well All testing with DLSS Quality ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MSFS2024 My testcenario is inibuilds OMDB GATE F20 Clear skies iniBuilds A350 Engines running all systems on TLOD 150 OLOD 150 Everything at Ultra raytracing on DLSS Quality mode FrameGen OFF AI Traffic all OFF 7900X3D - 50 FPS 9900X3D - 60 FPS BUT BUTTERSMOOTH at panning and taxiing. After takeoff quikly 75 FPS +10 FPS Turning FSLTL on with roughly 80 injected planes does nothing to this chip in MSFS2024 With TLOD 75 at ground via DynamicLod I get 70 FPS. While flying around Dubai with TLOD 150 my FPS is between 70 and 75 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MSFS2020 My testcenario is inibuilds OMDB GATE F20 Clear skies iniBuilds A350 Engines running all systems on TLOD 200 OLOD 200 Everything at Ultra DLSS Quality mode FrameGen OFF AI Traffic all OFF 7900X3D - 45 - 50 FPS 9900X3D - 65 FPS BUTTERSMOOTH at panning and taxiing Plus 15 - 20 FPS With TLOD 75 at ground via DynamicLod I get 85 - 90 FPS. While flying around Dubai with TLOD 200 my FPS is between 70 and 75 In VR: Flying in EUROPE is smooth again and EUROPE, especially above Germany, was a bigger stutterfest with my 7900 X3D and TLOD200, now with 9900X3D scenery loading is smooth and I can maintain 45 - 50 FPS in VR with FENIX A321, TLOD 200 and everything on High in MSFS, FSLTL ON. At EDDF I could maintain 45 FPS in VR )Varjo Aero, running 4k resolution and 60 injected AI planes via FSLTL- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This Chip runs on the same temperatures at my and (Watercooled 60 - 70 Celsius in a 20 Celsius room) Both sims run much more smooth, most noticable uplift in FPS and Lower Frametimes in MSFS2020. MSFS2024 has its smaller LOD loading issues when approaching heavy scenery airports (like inibuilds EGLL and OMDB are). But still the performancegain is noticeable FPS and frametimeswise. In VR my FPS are lower then on 2D but I can maintain 45 FPS at least in both sims when using Auto FPS with TLOD Base 75 and 200 at 2500 Feet upwards without any issues. For me the Chip is a huge upgrade, allthough the price EUR 670 is very high. For me it was worth it, but that is just my opinion and my passion I think. 😉 I need to test different BIOS settings as well. This new CCD management has also some new BIOS entries like LOW Latency modes etc. I haven´t tried them out yet. Regards Marcus Regards, Marcus P.
March 14, 20251 yr Thank you very much for your summary Marcus. I look forward to any future comments you have regarding this CPU. I currently have the 7800X3D and are thinking about an upgrade. FPS is not that important to me but smoothness is. March 14, 20251 yr Something is not right about getting 60 -65. I have an ultra with only TLOAD 200 and OLAD 150 locked at a steady 90 FPS. 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.
March 15, 20251 yr Looked at price on Amazon, close to $900.00 and only 2 left in stack. Another important factor could be the power settings in Windows; please check this, even if it's 9950x3d Edited March 15, 20251 yr by LRBS 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.
March 15, 20251 yr You have to check and see if the 3D is turned on. Core parking is not automatically activated unless you install as a fresh copy of windows. If not you must turn on in BIOS along with an updated version of AMD adrenalin software. If you go to the task manager, you should see it running under the process tab. I got one hell of a video boost when I activated core parking Bill McIntyre Asus StrixB650E-F Gamer, AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D, Corsair Titanium DDR5 64GB, Samsung 990 PRO-4TB M.2, (4) 2TB SSD's, Corsair H1150i liquid cooler, RTX 2080TI Founders Edition, (2) LG 34" HD Curved Monitor, Sound Blaster Audigy X, 1Kw PC Power & Cooling Power Supply, Corsair Obsidian Full tower Case. With Curve optimizer set to negatives it hits easily 5.7 GhZ on the Cache Cores, wich are all the 12 cores. So you are able to get this 128 L3 (2x64 MB) cache AND high clock speeds. My 7900X3D had 64 MB cache on the second CCD chiplet, called CCD1, and flightsim but there was no cache on that chiplet. Now, with 2x64 MB cache spreaded over 2 Chiplet, CCD0 and CCD1, you always use cache cores and are able to use high clock speeds. Regards, Marcus P.

Its possible most likely that I tested this with the CPU heavy IniBuilds a350,wich is very heavy on the FPS when switching to outside views. Every other plane has higher outside FPS compared to cockpit FPS, Not the A350. I will test it with asobos Boeing 737max. Regards, Marcus P.

Via the resource monitor I see the 6 parked cores when MSFS is in focus on the first 6 cores. What have you actived in the Bios at the CPPC (dynamic preferred cores) setting? Driver, Cache or Auto? IF the AMD 3D V-Cache Performance Optimizer Service service is running, the software is doing its job. Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
