March 21, 20251 yr I feel like Chief Ten Bears in "The Outlaw Josey Wales" -- "....all of these things you say we will have....we already have..." 😀 Being, smoothness. I sit back and observe these things closely, so I appreciate the info. My only immediate move will probably be to go to 64GB of ram. I would imagine if the sticks are on the QVL for my board I should be good-to-go if I decide to upgrade to a 9xxxx3D. I keep telling myself I won't do it, but...it's hard to resist. Right now after installing 9900X3D taxiing to Rwy25 at KDEN in the Longitude+BATC+FSLTL+SLC we're at ~67FPS-na. That is in line w/ predicted pretty much in this scenario. Next, in MSFS 2020 with PMDG 738+BATC+FSLTL+SLC turns out locking at 55FPS-na is perfect and gives me 10% headroom over wide open native and pretty much where I hoped to get to. It is once again SO SO nice to be rid of the artifacts associated w/ frame generation I am just stoked😃 And 55 or even 50 in trade for return of the most stable best-looking image possible is a no-brainer. It appears in 2024 I will be able to run TAA, whereas in 2020 just now DLSS4+DLAA was worth the smearing which is modest anyway. The CPU is running about the same temp or even a little lower. SMT is off. I know this is a dual CCD CPU so do I need to do anything to address this? I thought maybe that was what so-called X3D Game Mode in the BIOS was supposed to do but I've not yet tried it. Thanks to the OP for posting this is a worthwhile mid-build upgrade which I normally avoid like the plague! I run an AMD 9950X on a gigabyte X870 Gaming X M/B, 64GB DDR5 @ 6000 setup and everything isn't being utilized as it is right now. Aside from that the sim is extremely smooth with DLSS4. No need to change anything. Remark on Bios turbo mode. It not only turns smt off but also some cores as well. At my 9900X3D I got only 6 cores after running with turbo mode on. I turned it of again. March 22, 20251 yr I’ve been following this thread since the start, just wanted to mention that I’m using SMT in 2024 (in 2020 I had slightly better performance with it turned off). 2024 seems to handle using ATC addons and AI traffic better than 2020, possibly due to improved multithreading. Anyway, it seems that there’s some significant improvements with the 9900X3D vs the previous generation. 3 hours ago, Noel said: I tried X3D Game Mode myself and noticed a slight drop in frame rate w/ only 6 cores active so went back to 12 core. And try in bios the Config Core setting to legacy, level 2 or level 3. It reduces the latency significant and gave 0% low fps! March 22, 20251 yr Seeing as I can't find a 9950X3D anywhere at MSRP, would it make any sense to upgrade my 7950X3D to the 9900X3D? To get things smooth now I set game mode in the BIOS, which effectively turns my 16 core CPU into an 8 core. Does the 9900X3D fix any of this? 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro

It disable CCD1 effectively making your CPU a 7800x3D with slightly more cache. The Core Parking of CCD1 is a feature, not a bug in normal ops. The 9900x3D doesnt “fix” anything, since the chips are designed to have core parking operational while gaming; it’s just a beefier chip and will yield better performance.
