Agree. Great topic. I wonder how we didn't have one already, or we did? Long time ago.... As many mention, it's quite hard to choose just one or two from so many, but, I'll try to do it with one simple trick... I will not look at my "simobject" FSX folder and try to name three models which I use the most... #1 Carenado - Cessna 182 RG II (would you look at this stunning beauty?) #2 Aerosoft - Digital Aviation Do-27 (incredible detailed old lady, pure joy to fly) #3 DH Chipmunk v3.0 - and it's freeware! (if you didn't, get it, metal skin is...just...) But until now, I think I spent most of the time in default C182, great plane but those three are getting close.... ;) Maybe I would also mention few jet planes (few of Alphasim, say!) but since I recently start to use TileProxy, fast ones are just... out of fashion. ___________________________________

RealAir Marchetti SF260. It's been my favorite in FS2002, FS9, and FSX. Great on frame rates, good on performance airspeed wise, and a large clear canopy with no thick side posts to get in the way of the outside view. This plane is also fun to run a few aerobatic tricks as well as slips and spins. Excellent rudder control!Besides, I flew the real one in simulated "laser sight" combat, which gives me a mental comparison.L.Adamson

Eaglesoft Twin Comanche is my default aircraft.

System: Rysen 7-9700X, MSI Pro X870-P WiFi AM5 Motherboard, Team T-Force Delta 64 GB DDR5 6000 Mhz, Corsair RM1000x80 PLUS Gold, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Super Windforce 12GB OC, NVIDIA Drivers 610.47, 2TB WD Blue SN580 NVMe m.2  SSD for Windows 11 Home,  2TB WD Black SN850X NVMe m2 SSD for MSFS & Steam, LG 27GX700A-B 280 Hz OLED 27" 2560x1440 280Hz Monitor,  Thrustmaster Airbus flight stick, Logitech M510 wireless Mouse.

I like many, but most of time I fly Captain Sim's C-130.

Thats why its an $7500.00 planehe he he

Capt Sim C-130 is also my favorite. It has the best VC I have seen in any aircraft ..... ever. You can load it with cargo (i.e. beer), your off road vehicle, your fishing boat, all your neighbors and land it on a carrier. :) The documentation is superb. Regardless of your opinion of Capt Sim, they got this one right, in my opinion. Bob..

You had to sign up far in advance. L.Adamson

Ditto. I'd fly FSX a whole lot more if there was a decent Concorde to be had. Hurry up SSTSIM (pretty please :-))Gary

Wow...all these posts, and not a single helicoptor is mentioned. :-rotor Yeah, I know...it's not an "airplane", but...If you haven't tried learning to fly a chopper in FSX, you really are missing out on some great capabilities of FSX. For instance, some of those scenery addons that will choke a slower computer when trying to fly a fixed-wing aircraft around them to sight-see can EASILY be done using a chopper. You can crank up ALL the sliders to max, then "slow flight" or "hover flight" around the most complex scenery areas without FSX having to constantly perform updates and reducing frame rates or causing stutters. A chopper is great for indulging in new scenery sight-seeing. Most of them have outstanding cockpit views. It's the first "airplane" I always load up to "inspect" new scenery addons. My favorite "airplane"?Fixed wing: Capt Sim C-130Chopper: All of them...they are just a ball to fly after learning to fly them.FalconAF

Well I have several planes that I love, for many different reasons but I'll name the ones I spend the most time in here recently.Commercial Airliner: Level-D 767-300ERCorporate Jet: Eaglesoft Citation X/Eaglesoft CJ 1(This is very good!)GA Plane: Eaglesoft Columbia 400 (It has everything you could ask for!)Military Prop: RealAir Spitfire 2008Old Prop: Aerosoft Hughes H-1 RacerAnd I have a bevy of other favorite planes, like the Flight1 Super80(still waiting on the Maddog to release a vc), MAAM DC-3/C-47 package, Alphasim Rutan Long-EZ, Alphasim Texan Harvard, Aerosoft BeaverX, Aerosoft Twin OtterX, and who can forget the Flight1 PC-12.And when it comes to helicopters I love anything that Nemeth Designs puts out, my favorite being the EC-135. I also enjoy the Aerosoft Seahawk/Jayhawk package. There is a ton of planes I enjoy flying but all these fit my needs of having to have a pretty good VC, real good flight characteristics, and of course they have to make me feel like I'm there!
