It's called EGPWS but who cares when everyone refer to it as "terrain radar"

Definitely not everyone refers it to it as "terrain radar".  I've literally never heard that term outside of, like, the reddit sim-world.  It's driven by EGPWS but that particular screen is called a terrain display.

Very minor nit pick for sure, but I'm with Martin that it kind of does make you wonder about the dev, what kind of SME input they've got.

I'm interested in this though, and I do kind of like the subscription model now, considering there's also a purchase option.  I'll for sure try it for a month for $5, that's a no-brainer.

I read "subscription" and almost spit all my food out.   EDIT: On the other hand, $120 for all variants and freighter sounds good.

Subscribing to a plane and then getting hit with a full $120 price tag to own it is just dumb for everyone involved. Not only is it a bad deal for the user, it also means the devs are shooting th

"It's a 737 classic, there's no other developer doing that. pricing structure won't please everyone as we've seen with PMDG's 777 lineup. Is what it is, but I appreciate being able to try it out for $5 since no one in this community does refunds."

To me, it's just another 737. All I really care about is the level of fidelity and quality of execution.

On pricing, it'll depend, I think, on how many completionists are out there, or perhaps if this turns out to be something as good/well regarded as the HS C650.

As far as e.g. PMDG, I'm one of the ones satisfied with a single variant like the 739 or 77F that cost $50ish.

Oh a 100%, they got a lot to make a first impression. Though the question is, which streamer is going to realistically test that, rather than just "flying" it. I guess we could always wait until its in our hands

Oh, yeah. There's only a few streamers I trust, and they're all IRL ATP's with fairly reasonable perspectives.

Also a good group of IRL Pro's here who weigh in from time to time. 👍

Yeah that’s entirely fair pov

I think people look at the price and think 650. When they don’t account for what the price does get you. I made a comparison earlier. It for sure restricts you from just buying what you want but alas. I certainly won’t be dropping 120 day one.

The final level of quality will ultimately be determined by how well the VNAV works.

Oh yeah, and if it has study level toilet flush 😅

Yeah it's one of those "simmer-isms", but also that's the point.  You would hope a dev is using real-world vs sim-world resources for systems subject matter expertise.  No one in the real world would ever call it that.  So, makes you wonder, that's all.

I've noticed a trend nowadays where experts and professionals will intentionally use popular nomenclature when talking to a broad audience. Effectively "dumbing things down".

I started doing the same when discussing my career and it's honestly the path of least resistance. When I do it online I inevitably get the "Aha! You're not who you say you are because you used x term!"

I like to think this Dev is falling victim to this now.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

This will be a day one purchage on my part.

Atleast that was the plan. If they have any affiliation with Russia, I wont go near it though.

I would imagine the majority of customers find the price acceptable, otherwise they would go out of business.  IMHO, I can't believe how cheap most of these 'study level' aircraft are!

That would be a fine approach, BUT, you can bet that the plane (like many other addons or software in general) won't be completed upon release day, and if you want to really experience all feature of your product, you may have to wait (and subscribe) a few more months/years (?)... then the one-month "trial" period is of little value!

Is the $5 subscription a one off trail, or can you subscribe to that tier as often as you want?  If it isn't one time only, it will be ideal for the scenario you describe.  Test it for a month and if not up to your standard leave it for a few months and subscribe again for a month.  Purchase when you are finally satisfied.

Seems a great option to me.  I often buy an addon aircraft on reviews only to be disappointed. Having the option to sample it for a month is a great.

All they have to do is make subscriptions count towards the full $120. That's it.

Don't agree.  If you subscribe for a month and don't like the aircraft, you can pull out for $5.  If you do like the aircraft, you purchase for a total of $125 - great value.

Really agree on the trial/monthly. Mainly to have the option to cancel if the plane does not live up to its billing.

BUT, I would REALLY appreciate an option to buy a single variant for $50-$60 (assuming this is indeed a Tier 1 addon).

That's true, but they make a lot of money with those 5 bucks.
Imagine for example 10000 people get it for the 5 bucks and 3000 people buy the whole package and the other 7000 jump off as potential buyers then they have made a lot of bucks and that is well thought out thinking from these devs.

cheers 😉
