XP12 catch-up request

Featured Replies

I used XP12 for the first six months after release, but gradually returned to MSFS.  However, the images from XP12 beta sure look amazing, so I have installed XP12 again.

Was Ortho4xp updated for XP12?  Do most now use AutoAutho?  Any other must haves that I have missed in the last couple of years?

I use map enhancement pro with sim heaven. And X-camera for my tobii. Plus sim haptic. Thats about it. Oh and just flight traffic global. With the regent traffic mod.

A big reason why I returned to MSFS was the HDR option.  I have seen some XP12 videos that look very bright, like HDR, but I don't see that with my XP12.

Can HDR be turned on in XP12 or are people using a trick or add-on?

I use auto-HDR mode in windows 11 and it works fine

The ortho seems very washed out and 'grey', almost like there is a filter over the scenery blocking it.  Did you ever see this?

I use bing maps with it and not Google, I also set digital vibrance to 60% in the nvidia control panel

With Google Map Enhancement you can adjust the color, contrast, brightness or not of the ground.

I use the same for Ortho and overlays works pretty well.  I'm only using tht free which yields Medium but the High quality - are you using it?  Is it worth the cost?

Yes I personally believe it’s worth the cost for high res images. It does make a difference. Just buy the monthly one for 5 dollars or so, and if you don’t like it, what’s 5 dollars?

If you have space and curiosity (a removable disk is enough) I recommend to use Ortho4xp 1.4 (I use the version that is unzip and run) for your main flight zones, in my case most of Europe. Then I use Map enhacement for the rest of the world.

If you invest some time and a bit of research Ortho4xp is much better than the orthos of any current simulator, for me the combination that works best is Here Maps (with -30 colour saturation) and  Sony mesh for Europe (Arc in greenland)

Then install Simheaven and Global Forest 2 (the latter is the only paid one you need) offer very good results in many areas of the planet, I still do not understand how there is no application like global forest 2 in the other sim, it is certainly not perfect but it is really is very good in the areas that I know personally.
