It certainly should be. I have a 4060TI also with 8GB and I constantly hit the roof of the VRAM.

So Raytracing Shadows are out of the question for me.

lol I run out of vram with a 4090

  • What GPU?  For me the issue has been more about VRAM than FPS.

I truly think some of the posts regarding vram usage being nil and performance being great are utter BS.    Or extremely misleading at best.

Also forgot to say that I don't do the tubeliner roadshow so my 8gb vram is usually good enough.

With SU2 and AMD FSR3 I'm getting 170fps in the cockpit so have a few frames to spare.  A perfect reason to enable RayTraced Shadows.

They eat about 7 fps but I like them.

Curious what the refresh of your monitor is?

75htz at only 1080p so my system is a lightweight.  Still works great but I have moderated my expectations like with all sims.

Got it..  So maintaining 170 FPS on a 75 Hz monitor... Interesting.

Correct with AMD FSR 3.  FG is great stuff BTW.

Your monitor cannot display more than 75FPS.

I have a 60hz monitor. If I run frame generation without setting anything in the frame rate limiter I can display frames way over 60....

Think about it, you have a 60hz monitor.
This means that the frames displayed over a 1 second interval is 60 frames.
So what this means is your display is showing you 60 frames in 1 second hence you will see 60 frames in 1 second.

You can have a FPS of 120 but your 60hz display is still only going to show you 60 frames.

So with a 60hz monitor what the best practice is to lock your FPS at 30fps and then use frame gen to double that to 60fps.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

I'm glad that the understanding has acheived such a deep level.

Hence why I asked and the left it at "interesting" LOL...

Yes I do have 30fps set on the in- game limiter and run FG on. It's working brilliantly with no stuttering but (forgive me, I'm a stupid person) why does my fps indicator run higher than 60fps with the limiter off?

Just think that the more processing you can do (in a given timeframe) the smoother things will be up front.

No you can't. The FPS counter is not the actual max frames your monitor will show you.
