I am not sure why it did in 2020,

I call this a faulty memory. It certainly never did in 2020. No 737 ever did that.

  • I've been flying it a few months in 2024, and have really enjoyed it...I think you guys will too. My paints on flightsim.to are not updated to 2024 yet, but all of them are updated on the iFly li

I would say it definitely compares favorably to the PMDG aircraft.  My personal take, after flying NGs and Maxs for a living for the last 11 years, is that I prefer the iFly.  But, that doesn't mean t

The bigger screens are nice for sure.  Obviously that's just a Max thing vs an iFly thing, but it's still nice.  But specifically about the iFly, things I like:  - OUTSTANDING flight model.  Leap

I am really at a loss. I am entering the ILS Frequency on the pedestal, but still cannot get the diamonds on HSI. Is there another switch somewhere I need to hit / flip?

Of course there is. You only enter frequencies into the standby field and need to swap them over to the active.

Should the ILS "auto-tune" if the approach runway is selected in the FMC? For some reason it never sets the frequency in the pedestal and when I try to set in the pedestal I get errors. I swear it worked flawlessly in 2020. Anything I could be doing wrong?

737s in reality do not auto tune radios, ever.  I can think of a couple possibilities as to how you thought it was working in 2020 though.

First, if you're talking specifically about it working on the iFly in 2020:  I'm pretty sure there's an option in the tablet to activate radio auto-tuning as a convenience.  Maybe you had that selected in the 2020 version.  (It exists in 2024 as well if you'd like it back.)

Or, if you're talking about this working on the PMDG 737 in 2020, it never was but you might have been thinking you were flying an ILS while actually doing IAN approaches (since they cannot be disabled in the PMDG.)

My problem is half the time the plug in does not load the tablet.

That is very frustrating

Huh, can't say I've ever seen the tablet fail to load.  Do you have the plug-in set to load automatically?  Might try turning that setting off and then back on again in the product manager, to re-create that .xml.

Understood, and I am doing that but no luck.

Have you tried the mode switch for nav radio?

I have not and I am not in front of my PC right now. I have just been trying to mimic what I have seen in videos, just not getting the same result.

Then you are making a mistake somewhere.

First you have to makes sure that it says ILS in the standby field. If it says VOR you need to use the MODE up and down keys below the radio panel until it does.

Then you enter the frequency and then you push the swap button left of the radio panel. Done.

Agreed I must be making a mistake somewhere, just don't know where. I am putting the frequency in standby, it does say ILS, I swap, but no joy.

Love this aircraft...but there's a but.  I've wasted the whole evening trying to do a 'cold and dark' with it rather than starting with engines running in MSFS2024.

But I can't seem to do it.

I spawn standing on the runway looking at the entrance door.  I click the 'Enter Aircraft' box shown in the view - it registers my mouse click but does absolutely nothing.   The standard Shift+C does nothing either.  Nor does clicking the door.

So I uninstalled it, using the developer's app, deleting the existing settings, then reinstalled.  Result - exactly the same.

Any ideas??

Oh yes - and tried to join their Discord channel.  It asked for my email; I put in my email; it returned 'That email is already in use' - well yes, that'll be me...

So can't get into their aircraft and can't get into their Discord channel either....

Not a great evening...

I still love the aircraft...but I don't like losing complete evenings messing with this sort of stuff.

At last, got it to recognise my Discord addie.  I'll see if they can help and pass on their advice here in case anyone else is having problems getting into the cockpit.

OK.  Interestingly, there are a number of folks on the Flight 1 Discord having the same problem...including one of the support guys, as far as can work out, who I think got it to work but I'm not sure was certain of it.  Anyway, the support guy was trying the command 'Take Control of Character' which seemed to work for him.  I followed the same steps (below) and it worked!

- I went into Settings

- In Keyboard, I searched for 'Take Control of Character'

- MSFS2024 settings found the command and I entered the standard 'Shift+C' into one of the two empty command boxes next to it

- Saved and returned to the external view

- Clicked 'Shift+C' and it now worked and got me into the cockpit, cold and dark

I've reported back the above to confirm to the Flight1 support guy/girl that this works.  I wouldn't have found this in a month of wasted evenings...
