MSFS 2024 Are they ever going to fix the solid wall bridges?

Featured Replies

Or should I start paying for Paid DLC that fixes bridges in each region I fly in?

Thanks!

Chris Camp

they'll probably be touched up whenever they update the photogrammetry in that area.

You are posing a question only the developers would be able to answer.

I don't believe you will get an honest answer here.

Seems like this is more of a rant post.

It's probably low on their list of priorities and let's face it so it should be at this time, in the meantime I have seen some freebie mods around the 'net over the years that "fix" bridges so maybe do a Google, check flightsim.to etc, might save a few pennies that way.

Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1

Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

There is no way that I could touch photogrammetry (even if I wanted to, which I don't) with "solid wall" bridges.

Doesn't bother me at all. It's not like I'm flying under them 99% of the time.

Honest answer, no, they will never fix all of the bridges as the vast, vast majority will be autogen with solid sides.  They will make some special bridges as proper 3d object of course, but it will never be more than a few hundred.  It is just the way the sim works.

Second part...  If it really troubles you, then yes buy the DLC for the regions you fly in, but really, I got over this years ago.  I flew under the golden gate once, and it didn't really float my boat, so maybe do what I do - don't worry about it and enjoy the other stuff where you can.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

The vast majority are autogen without solid sides.

?  Some may look like they don't have solid sides, but if you try to fly under them there is an invisible wall.  At least that is my experience.

Of course we also have the problem of the route the road traffic takes.  Not always across the bridge but across the water underneath.  Looks really bad.

I cant see what they can do about it without handcrafting every bridge in the sim along with the traffic routes, and with the multitude of other problems with the sim, that wont be a priority.

I was thinking of the visual aspect, so apologies for that. Having said that, I am really surprised that the autogen bridges would have invisible walls under them. I need to check that out, as I have never attempted to fly under a bridge in MSFS 2020.

Tell you what would be cool is if we could fly through tunnels like that Red Bull pilot did, that'd be an awesome Challenge.

You can get various effects Chris, from a full crash like hitting a brick wall, to just like flying through treacle for a second with the plane being flipped around.  It might depend on whether you have crash detection on or not.

But like I say, least of the sims worries at the moment.  So many other things frustrate me, but not really this one any more.

- Many questions here can only be answered by developers in detail, which they don't do in most cases. That's why we have this forum.

Why should it be rant to ask a question we have no perfect answer for?

Exactly Nemo.  The forum is for conversations as well.

Not every thread has to be a question that needs some kind of validation by others who think they know better, or criticise questions because they simply don't like the look of them (an insecurity maybe?).
