I have not had time to purchase and fly this helo in the sim yet, but I have been earnestly looking forward to it. Now, I am no real-world pilot. But, across my 28 year career as a Light Infantryman and Recon Sniper, mostly in the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division, I have thousands of hours as a passenger in Blackhawk (and Chinook) helicopters. I have conducted a myriad of missions from the back of Blackhawk, to include paratrooper ops, rappelling, sling loading, SPIES and FRIES ops, aerial sniper ops, hundreds of real-world combat mission insertions and extractions, night and NVG ops, and thousands of training missions. Basically, for a large part of my career I lived in the back of a Blackhawk. They are awesome, capable birds. Across all those missions, in my experience, we lived 80% of the time at NOE altitude, and rarely broke 1000'. As a military passenger, I cannot remember one standard style approach into an airport. Granted, I was almost always flying into the middle of nowhere in it, but still I was a passenger on a few ferry flights in Iraq and Afghanistan.

At any rate, can't wait to get my hands on this baby and give her a spin. Soon as my schedule slows down in a week or so, I'll be skimming the virtual trees and coming in "hot" into some simulated LZ 😊😁

AMD Ryzen 9900X3D & ASUS X870E Gaming Plus MB, w/64 Gb GSkill DDR5 RAM, PNY RTX 5090 GPU, lots of SSD's and M.2 drives, HAVN  Case, Virpil VPC Panels 2 and 3, Virpil Constellation Alpha Stick, Virpil Rotor TCS Plus w/ Hawk-60 Collective grip, TM TCA Yoke Boeing Edition, TM HOTAS A-10 and F/A-18 Sticks and TM TPR Rudder pedals. Currently on Win11

Thanks for that, did not know of him. Have subscribed.

At least he admits the video is screwed up and we can look forward to a better review.

Yeah, his stuff is usually better.

but it’s always pretty much off the cuff - content rather than choreography 😁

Trim is more of an assist for users with limited hardware or experience (eg. want to avoid configuring a trim release keybind). For many experienced users, TRIM OFF is probably the recommended way to go.

@Miltechsimulations

This statement is confusing to me and I'd like to understand it better: on the documentation hub, the only trim option that has TRIM set to OFF is the last one, 'Force Trim System OFF', and that section begins with the statement:

"Recommended for advanced users with noncentering controls only"

But above you're saying that turning trim off completely would also be possibly applicable to "many experienced users". What is it about being an 'experienced user' that would motivate someone to turn trim off completely, unless they had a non-centering stick? Is it that an 'experienced user' would intuitively feel that continually returning the stick to center felt artificial, and they would be comfortable with holding it in whatever position was required to maintain their current attitude?

Wow! The stories you must have. 😳 I wish I could buy you a beer and listen to some. Any famous ops you were engaged in you can share?

Well, appreciate the beer offer. Should we ever end up at a flight sim con, then I would be more than happy to sit down for some drinks. As for stories, after four year long combat tours (and my overall time in service), I have a TON of stories, most of which I can share, although not here in this thread. Since you live in Canada, I will share that once upon a time I competed in an international sniper competition, and the Canadian sniper teams I competed against were very professional, top notch well trained guys and great human beings to hang with. 😊

That’s great to hear. We use to hold a record in that department. 😎

Anyway, back on topic… I’ve never flown in one myself, but looking forward to trying out the Blackhawk in the sim.

If it's the record I know of, as far as I am aware of, it still stands. At least on the unclassified side of things 😉 But, it was not out of a Blackhawk 😊

IRL UH-60 pilot takes a second look after the 2 updates:

it’s funny when IRL pilots review addons. They don’t tend to sweat the small stuff. 😁

He likes it more, points out some things that still need attention, and still gives it a thumbs up.
