July 31, 2025Jul 31 Hi. I just switched over from SU2 to SU3. I am still very new to all of this but having a good time with it. Here are my questions: 1. I am trying to create a flight plan in the G36 Bonanza using the EFB. I build the plan but when I try to send it I get a message saying that part of the plan is VFR so I cannot sync with the avionics. Is that true? I can't create a VFR flight plan and load it into the plane's avionics for the autopilot to follow? 2. I just learned about Dynamic LOD and I just learned about the Dynamic Settings option in the sim. Is one better than the other? Does it make any sense to run both? July 31, 2025Jul 31 On my machine all dynamic settings do is just totally reduce the range of rendering.... so I see a very obvious cutoff of the treeline. Yeah it's smoother but it's ugly. IMO that setting is for weaker PC's or xbox. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

Does it make any sense to run both? Don’t use either. Get AutoFPS. It’s super simple… just run it before you start the sim, set it on auto and let it do its thing. It basically increases LODs when you’re flying and you have performance to spare, and reduces them when you land at a busy airport to keep your FPS from dropping off. It also reduces LODs at night when it doesn’t matter. Very cool app. I get better visuals flying, and better FPS landing and motoring around a busy airport. As for your other issue, if you want to do a VFR flight, only select your departure on the map screen, then in the sim, use the EFB. And ensure your flight plan is not using jetways enroute, select VFR in that drop-down, and check the flight rules on the other screen where you enter your call sign to ensure it’s also set to VFR. Then go back and load it to avionics and all should work. Edited July 31, 2025Jul 31 by Virtual-Chris

The advantage of it is that it keeps your FPS smooth, at the target FPS you set, at the cost of degraded graphics. If you set your target FPS high enough in Dynamic Settings, such that it's way beyond what your hardware is capable of, then MSFS 2024 graphics will look a lot like FSX graphics, but at least your target FPS is being met. I have a related question: how would I see and be able to add waypoints if I don't want my journey to be point-to-point? Like I want to add a nice POI into that flight? Thanks. I’m afraid I don’t bother with that. I just fly the route I want 😝

Is that true? Yes, it is true. Just as IRL, most avionics systems have no concept of putting in a visual approach or departure pattern. A real world analog would be picking an advisory visual approach or departure pattern, but when you sync it to your G1000, that does not transfer over. That doesn't mean you can't sync the rest of your VFR plan; as the message says it's just about the advisory visual patterns. Everything else will sync just fine (provided the plane is using 2024 avionics, 2020 avionics obviously have no concept of the EFB).
