MaddogX Sound Immersion NG - Released!

Featured Replies

Well Well , seems like a must have. I need to uninstall which might serve me well as i do get WASM issues in MSFS2024 with my favorite 🙂 , (same with the PMDG737 -BBJ2 in MSFS2020 but deleting any panelstate and made myself a fresh one seems to hold for now.

  • It doesn't. Leonardo changed folder names for starters, and sound sources. Needs proper updating, which we are working on. You are hearing more, as Leonardo changed quite a few things audio wise

Did a quick flight and noticed a couple issues.

When the jetway is connected, regardless of whether or not the main door is open, the sounds are coming through as if you were outside the aircraft.  The outside sounds should not be as loud inside regardless of the door state, and definitely should not sound if the door is shut.  I could barely hear anything in the cockpit other than the sound of other aircraft with the jetway connected or main door open.  Closing the cockpit door didn’t make any difference either.

Another issue is the wheel rattle sounds even when the aircraft has stopped moving after pushback.  Note that I’m using gsx.

Otherwise seemed pretty good.  Cockpit is very quiet but has some nice sounding engines when you are seated near the back.

I think those sounds are played by GSX. None of our beta testers reported anything strange when using GSX though, so I will investigate. Also, cabin door sounds are not yet implemented, so I'm sure it's not related to the soundpack.

Regarding nose wheel noises on pushback, again none of the beta testers reported this issue interestingly. Nose wheel noises are dynamic, controlled by ground speed and nose wheel angle. If the aircraft is standing still (0kts ground speed), and you hear those sounds, that means GSX is sending the sim some strange data that is not corresponding with the current state of the aircraft.

Can you please test the same situations without GSX, just to be sure?

Just to clarify, it was not the nose wheel sounds but a rattling sound when sitting over the wings.  I attributed this to the main wheels but I could be wrong.

The outdoor sounds are coming from FSLTL aircraft.  Does GSX control whether you hear outdoor vs inside sounds?  The outdoor sounds immediately stopped once the jetway was retracted.

I won’t be able to test again for a few days.

Ok, I will test the pushback with GSX and see what is happening with the rattling.

I think GSX introduces some exterior sounds, but I could be wrong. Since exterior sounds stopped immediately once the jetway was disconnected, it easily could be GSX since I didn't implemented any sound related to cabin door or jetway.

But again, I will test and report back.

Had a chance to give this a whirl despite my initial doubt. I have a lot of time in the Shady 80 and when I first heard this soundpack was being made I assumed (incorrectly) that it would be rather exaggerated; A lot of people complain about the default sounds because those loud as hell JTD8's can't be from the flight deck. My first time in the real thing I remember thinking "This is what a deadstick takeoff would sound like!" and the default nailed that feeling so I questioned what an "immersive soundpack" could offer...

Color me surprised with this soundset. It's faithful to the real thing while being so much more crisp and immersive than the Leonardo version. You also get far more realistic sounds as you move around the cabin. The APU sound is a bit less dramatic than the real thing (In the real world it'll make you deaf and god help your ears if you board via the airstairs with it running) and the wheel rattle is a bit too much (but maybe it was really like that on the aircraft they recorded) but everything else is really well done. The distant external roar from the rear brings me back.

Nice work!

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

I was reading the details for this and noticed that one of the controls for the sound pack seems to be using the ADF switch ion the audio panel - does that actually mean if you want to hear the ADF audio you have to have the FO window leak whistle turned on ?

As far as I know, overhead audio panel is not coupled with CPT or FO one.

Can we boost up the engine sounds Just a little in the cockpit even if its not realistic? I do not fly from the passenger seat or outside view but I love the engine sounds.

Yes, how to do so is described in the first 2 pictures provided on the orbx product page. https://orbxdirect.com/product/immersive-audio-maddogx-msfs?

What a terrific idea to implement this in this way 👍. I always liked a little unrealistic louder sound in the cockpit for simming purposes, particularly if it’s done via an option.

Good stuff!!

I was aware there are many simmers that prefer an iconic buzz of the JT8D even in the cockpit, so got the idea to implement it via some knob in the cockpit. Firstly, I implemented it via digital light knob in the lower pedestal, but after suggestions from some members in the discord group that are using digital light knob a lot with its original purpose (digital text dimming), we found a good solution via INOP knob located on the aft overhead audio panel, that is not connected to CPT or FO audio panels in any way.

Also I plan to include additional XML files in the soundpack addon folder, mostly for users that like to disable PAX noises all together, or prefer to use, for example, Max engine sound option on every flight, without playing with the knob during every pre-flight.
