That site has been a backwater for years. Let's hope that someone sensible buys the domain name.

I used to hang out over there decades ago, I came here instead because Tom Allensworth was a far better host to the flight sim community. Greatful for the years we've had on AVSIM

Seems a bit harsh … at least that site doesn’t have Ads covering up most of the content with scrolling issues and alignment issues and insert image URL that doesn’t popup at the top of the page rather at the bottom hidden requiring a long scroll to just insert a image URL.

This is a donation forum, not sure how many people donate anymore, I used to do it every year and don't mind doing it again. If donations are low of course alternative income is necessary. Someone has to pay the rent 😁

They haven't been doing any donations since Nels sold the site.  That's why my comment about a losing
situation.

Yes it’s me and yes I’ve donated to flightsim.com as I did here just not on a regular basis.

Not all sites need advertising or donations to stay active, depends on what one’s objective is.  

I’m about to start another website that will cost me about ($1200/year).  My motive is to work thru some Wasm projects in Blazor and also to provide information and/or services to anyone interested related to flight simulation along the way, sure experimental but zero Ads and zero tracking.

Point being to each his or her operational motives.

Avsim seems to be on life support too. Front page use to have daily news about FS. The only thing showing is from 2024. File library use to be updated multiple times a day. Now it seems not to be updated for days. Charlie, your comment wasn't necessary. Tom did a great job with AVSIM. Nels did a great job with Flightsim.com. Hopefully, both sites can get back to the level they once held. 

The AVSIM file library is pretty much useless now with the new downgraded and pitiful search engine.

I recommend that AVSIM focus on keeping this forum going instead of wasting resources on the file library.

That would be a bad idea for any of us using AIG.

@Camsdad13 I calls 'em as I sees 'em!  If the site is not sold, then I see no other alternative for it!  Nels
sure as heck won't buy it back!

Lastly, I would like to thank everyone so far for their donations to this site!  That's what is going to
help keep the server up and running.  BUT...we are far below goal for this year!
