August 13, 2025Aug 13 I’m using Tobii Eye Tracker (well… head tracking really) in 2024 and while it’s a wonderful bit of tech, I despise both Tobii and Asobo for the poor and buggy implementation in the 2024 sim (now 9 months post-launch). Anyway, I digress… I’m wondering if anyone has any tips to avoid the following annoyances… - Every time I start the sim, the view point is behind the avatar. So I need to reset it and it pops into the proper place. Then when I get into the cockpit, I need to reset it once or twice again as the viewpoint is often behind the seat or outside the window. Is there any way to fix this? - After you reset it in some planes, the default view is too low or close and I need to adjust it up or back… can you set its default view? And have it remember that? - I can’t hold my head steady enough it seems to click things in the virtual cockpit, so I have to pause it… but when paused it goes to the default view, and I invariably have to shift the view around with keys to where I was looking (like to the side at the EFB) to get on with the task. Is there a way to pause the view and freeze it where you’re currently looking? - It’s often getting out of alignment so I need to reset it… is there something I can avoid doing that’s causing it to get out of alignment? It’s super annoying after a longish flight and my view is way off and resetting it doesn’t help and I’m scrambling for a keyboard on approach so I can see straight LOL. Cheers -Chris Edited August 13, 2025Aug 13 by Virtual-Chris

Cheers -Chris Have you tried OpenTrack? I think it may solve some of your issues, especially pause resetting the view. I used this video guide back when Tobii caused a CTD in 2024, there may be better ones available now. Tobii Eye Tracker 5: Setup and CTD Fix | MSFS 2024 FS2024 • PMDG 738, 77F • FSL A321 • A2A Comanche, Aerostar • BS Baron, Bonanza, Caravan Pro • JF Tomahawk • TAOG H500C BeyondATC • GSX Pro • ChasePlane & Flow Pro • TDS GTNXi • FSUIPC • AutoFPS • RealTurb 9800X3D B650E • ROG OC RTX 5090 • 64GB DDR5-6000 • VKB Gladiator, STECS, T-Rudder • Tobii 5 • ISP 1 Gbps
August 13, 2025Aug 13 I have the same little annoyance at every MSFS2024 start. My routine is SHIFT+C, F12 and RIGHT-CTRL+F12 😉 I assigned F12 to "Eye Tracking Reset" and RIGHT-CTRL+F12 to Toggle Head Tracking position. I have also change some sensibility settings to have a better stand still position when it's about moving knob on the panel. But I'm a VFR GA guy, no not much to do in-it (inside the cockpit vs looking and enjoying the view outside). I've also a bunch of devices (Streamdeck and mPanel from VRInsight) to set this and this and reducing to the maximum the 3D click/rotage interaction. And at the end of the day, it's all very personal. Edited August 13, 2025Aug 13 by vbazillio Vincent B. But there are things like the EFBs that cannot be mapped. And this is where I run into trouble. I’ll try adjusting the sensitivity to see if I can improve my hit rate. 8 hours ago, flyingscampi said: Have you tried OpenTrack? August 13, 2025Aug 13 After using TrackIR for as long as I can remember, I decided to give the Tobii a try about a month ago. Despite tweaking all the parameters I could find, and following lots of suggestions across the forums, I simply could not get rid of a latency and almost feeling of stuttering as I panned my view around. The issue of the pause button re-centering your view was the dealbreaker for me, and I decided to return it and go back to my TrackIR. When I did, I was amazed at how smooth and precise everything was! I know lots of others have had better experiences but I just couldn't get it working the way I wanted to. On top of that, it's now been almost a full month since my return was delivered and I've been unable to get any responses from Tobii support about when I can expect my refund. Finally today I had to file a charge dispute with my credit card company! Definitely unimpressed.

I had TrackIR before and had significant issues with sunlight coming through windows in the room disrupting it. I guess if you can control the lighting better than I could it’s an option. But at least the way I’m setup now, I can’t use it. And I agree that Tobii is not a company I would recommend. Their lack of investment in properly supporting 2024 is terrible. They just let the community sort out workarounds to what they claimed were sim issues. Edited August 13, 2025Aug 13 by Virtual-Chris

Their lack of investment in properly supporting 2024 is terrible I think that's a bit harsh. Asabo didn't provide support for tobii in 2024. This is not tobii's fault. The good news is that SU3 will provide full support for the tobii. In the meantime, I have been using open track without any problems.

I agree fully, since Tobii works flawless in 2020, it's the implementation of 2024 that screwed this up. The only true work around at this point is to utilize Tobii through Opentrack, which functions as good as Track-ir. Still just adds another app having to run just to use it. If you read the work around instructions provided by Tobii, there's a couple of options, both are kludgy, and the first without OpenTrack didn't work properly for me - I ended up having to edit settings in the XML file to get it setup properly. It's absolute rubbish instructions. There's also the Opentrack option but apparently that's less user friendly. They could have picked a path and provided an updated installer to do one or the other with a lot less fussing around but they haven't bothered to do anything to help.
August 14, 2025Aug 14 Tobii eye tracker is working perfectly fine in msfs 2024. Are you sure you have the correct driver from tobii : https://gaming.tobii.com/getstarted/?srsltid=AfmBOoroiLk-DiOoexwOPDG_kYaOMv_T0n2dqR96VVW_ZsmP7NbnIFH7 use you tube to set it up. It is not that complicated. And i believe, that in SU 3 there will be a full integrated software for Tobii eyetracker Edited August 14, 2025Aug 14 by Soeren Jensen extra line
August 14, 2025Aug 14 Tobii is as smooth as TrackIR for me (2020 & 2024), without the hassle of wearing a reflector and closing the blinds. My Tobii is mounted on the bottom of my display about 2ft away at chest level. August 14, 2025Aug 14 I am using Tobii fine in SU3 with the integrated config page they have now put in the sim. Easy to adjust in seconds now. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio. Looks like a patched UI 😉 more than a fully integrated software 😉 It's better than a .XML edit and we have to celebrate any baby steps with MSFS2024 since the launch. August 14, 2025Aug 14 @vbazillio Sorry, I should have said 'settings page' not software. It is very similar to what we had with 2020, and it does the job. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).
