Very slow beyound ATC response times

Featured Replies

I first noticed very slow response times from beyound ATC while on SU2.  I am now on SU3 and the problem still is there.  Anyone else seeing this issue?

I use the auto response selection , I do not use a microphone.

Sometimes it says "generating response" for a long time.

Thanks,

JIM w6hxw

YES!  I thought it was just me.   Had the issue a few days ago and it persists after the recent "update".   Didn't want to flag it because there are more than a few BATC word not allowed running around here who would get offended.    Thought it was just something going on with my settings.    I'm getting closer and closer to simply using BATC for AI traffic and shutting off the ATC portion entirely.    It's sad because I was originally pretty content with it.   Not close to being polished but it was acceptable.   Since then, it just seems like it's one step forward, two steps back.

No. Don't see it.

Are you in 2020 or 2024?   Are you using a mic or using auto response / keyboard commands to "talk" to ATC?

2024. And I use a microphone on the ground and autoresponse in the air.

Didn't I read something about server issues that were supposedly fixed with this last update? So maybe it is a matter of where you are connecting from?

They had this issue a few days ago, and this afternoon it came back. I posted the issue on their Discord.\

Try to change US male voice (the voice you use for own responses) to UK male voice. It's solved problem for me for now.

BATC has been rather poor for me the last two months or so .. feels like it was better before they added the LLM features.

I’ve stopped using it and just use default ATC.

I do like the lack of subscription still - at least I just paid $40 once (or whatever the price was, don’t recall). But they seem to be struggling with some features or something. I plan to check it out again in a couple months.

I’ve used BATC and SI. The voices are great and the AI features are amazing.
But there are some things I don’t like:

1. The vectoring isn’t consistent and the instructions often have problems.
2. SI needs a subscription, and BATC’s better voices cost extra — so you always have to pay.

Now I’m using fshud. The instructions are much better, and the voices are fine too.

Funnily enough (given that I like trying out new stuff), I haven't tried this yet.. it's on my list for when I get back from vacation next week.

The FS HUD voices I heard on some youtube videos used to be awful. When was that fixed?

It is happening to me as well. I am on MSFS2020. I am going to try switching to female voice uk. I also use auto response.

Some people don't like the voices at all, but generally I find them quite good. Some of the YouTube videos seem to have the 'radio effect' turned up high, leading to some of the voices sounding like transoceanic HF reception. I prefer dialling down that option.

There are a couple of areas that need improvement:

  • Range of regional voices is very limited at the moment.
  • Some of the voices occasionally introduce an unnecessary pause, even in the middle of words.

I understand that improved voices will be part of the 2025 roadmap features update, when that is released.
